One piece 1075 proved to be a chapter that no fan of the story would have been able to predict. This chapter saw Oda at his very best when it comes to setting up expectations for fans in a particular direction and completely misleading them. Previously, fans were led to believe that someone is actively working against Dr. Vegapunk and the Straw Hat Pirates on Egghead Island.
This week’s chapter focused heavily on the identity of this traitor and thankfully, this mystery was finally solved towards the end. Along with that, fans also got to see an unlikely team-up, all of which made One Piece 1075 a very special chapter indeed. With the story seemingly not on any break going forward, One Piece 1075 is a crucial set-up for what could be one of the most important chapters in the Egghead Island arc coming up.
The Traitor Attacks
One Piece 1075 picked up exactly from where the previous chapter left off. In last week’s chapter, fans were shocked to see one of the bodies of Dr. Vegapunk being attacked by a mysterious person. It was not known who this person was exactly, however, fans speculated it to be one of the personalities of Dr. Vegapunk that he had separated from Stella. At the same time, Caribou was another option for the traitor as he has been running wild on the island with no one to bind him any longer. This week, fans got to see the traitor cut off camera connections one after the other and Shaka was left helpless at the sight. Soon after, it was revealed that the person who attacked Pythagoras was none other than a Seraphim, S-snake, to be specific.
She was able to take out Pythagoras’ body, however, his head managed to survive and was rescued by the Straw Hat Pirates shortly after. The Seraphim clearly did not listen to any of the satellites of Dr. Vegapunk which means someone with higher authority commanded her to get rid of the bodies of Dr. Vegapunk, along with the Straw Hat Pirates. In the meantime, the Cipher Pol were also attacked by two Seraphims, S-Bear and S-Hawk.
Vegapunk’s Betrayal
The attack of the Seraphim was something that no fan expected and Oda clearly threw a curveball fans’ way. He led every fan to believe that the traitor was one of the satellites when the real traitor was hiding in plain sight. Towards the end of the chapter, Shaka made it clear that the actual traitor was none other than Dr. Vegapunk himself. It appears that Dr. Vegapunk has ordered the Seraphims to get rid of everyone on Egghead Island. This includes the Straw Hat Pirates, the CP0, the Government officials, and even his very own satellites.
Vegapunk is someone clinging to dear life at this point and he is willing to sacrifice other people for his own safety. This is likely because Vegapunk believes that his survival is paramount for the advancement of humanity and he intends to see his dream get fulfilled at any cost. This makes sense as Vegapunk suddenly vanished a few chapters ago and, since then, all the strange occurrences on Egghead Island have slowly begun. The next few chapters will surely flesh this out further and will make it clear as to which side Dr. Vegapunk is truly on. While it is highly unlikely that he is evil through and through, it is much more likely that he is a character who can be called morally gray. Vegapunk will sacrifice anyone and everyone in his path to get what he truly wants. This makes it very complicated for Luffy to help him as he isn’t the kind of old man that he taught he was.
Straw Hat-CP0 Team Up
One Piece 1075 ended with a curious turn of events as the Straw Hat Pirates, specifically, Luffy and Zoro, were considering a team-up with Lucci and Kaku to deal with the threat of S-hawk and S-Bear. It wasn’t so long ago that both Luffy and Zoro were trading blows with Lucci and Kaku in an attempt to kill each other. Now, the two look like they are going to join forces and fight against the Seraphims that have been ordered to wipe out everyone on the island. While Luffy and Zoro certainly do not look happy at the team-up, they will most certainly agree to it and fans could see all four of them go all-out against the Serpahims.
Luffy and Zoro will likely team up against one of them, while Lucci and Kaku will try to fend off another. Whether or not they will be successful in this attempt remains to be seen. There is also the threat of S-Snake, who is arguably the most dangerous of them all. Currently, she is in the vicinity of Franky, Usopp, and Lilith and whether they will be able to fend her off remains to be seen. All things considered, this week’s chapter of One Piece was certainly solid and fans expect it to lead up to something even bigger very soon.
