Manchester United are riding the crest of a wave following their win in the derby against Manchester City last weekend.
United have won all seven of their games since the World Cup, conceding just twice in those victories. Erik ten Hag seems to have got everyone working in harmony, and the arrival of Wout Weghorst, on loan from Burnley until the end of the season, provides more depth up front.
Everything is going swimmingly at Old Trafford for now, but that doesn’t mean United have stopped working on transfers. With two weeks left of the January transfer window, there continue to be rumours surrounding the club, who could still be active before it slams shut.
Here are the latest pieces of gossip concerning United.
Dortmund eyeing Elanga
One player who has not enjoyed the Ten Hag reign so far is Anthony Elanga. The 20-year-old winger was one of the few beneficiaries of Ralf Rangnick’s time in charge but has just one assist in 16 appearances for Ten Hag this season.
He has struggled to command a place in the side – and that situation could be exploited by other clubs. According to talkSPORT, Everton and Bournemouth have enquired about the Sweden international’s availability, while Borussia Dortmund are also interested.
Elanga has fallen behind Alejandro Garnacho in the pecking order, while Jadon Sancho is also likely to be preferred by Ten Hag once he is back fit and firing.
Murtough leading Dumfries chase

Denzel Dumfries had a good World Cup for Netherlands and has been in the gossip columns ever since. The 26-year-old Dutch right-back is being touted for a move away from Inter Milan, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich linked.
Italian outlet Tuttomercato claims that United and Chelsea have been in contact with Inter and have been told he is available for £35million. That price looks prohibitive for United, but the report states they remain interested and a deal could be done if they manage to raise funds by selling players.
Football director John Murtough is reportedly interested enough to fly to Milan and hold talks with Inter chiefs.

Osimhen top summer target

United have loaned Weghorst as a stop-gap signing until the end of the season, but with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial their only two other options in attack, they are keen to sign a world-class striker in the summer.
They were recently linked with Harry Kane, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen – and the Italian media believe it is the latter who they will push for. The Nigeria international has been on fire this season, contributing 12 goals and three assists in 14 Serie A matches for Napoli, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Naples-based outlet Il Mattino claims the Red Devils are ‘already lining up’ a package for Osimhen, who has asked his representatives to postpone any talk about his future until the summer. His deal runs until June 2025, but Napoli are keen to extend it to protect their asset, who is reportedly valued at a whopping £133m.
