Why You Should Buy The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Over European Luxury SUVs

Jeep’s flagship SUV comes furnished with stout prowess, deluxe treatments, and exemplary practicality to never fall short of the European luxury SUVs.

Jeep is known for its off-road monsters, but they have entered the luxury car game with the utterly luxurious Grand Wagoneer. The 2023 Grand Wagoneer is a full-size luxury SUV with a starting price of $86,640 and is available in five trims. With a price that can surpass the $110,000 mark, this luxury SUV competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, the new BMW X7, and the all-time favorite Range Rover.

However, with European stalwarts presently reigning over the American luxury car market, can a company known for building off-road dominators like the Wrangler survive in the luxury-barge market? The simple answer is yes! Because the Grand Wagoneer has been a long-serving nameplate for Jeep, and this SUV is exceptional in every way, attractive details like a naturally-aspirated V8 will definitely lure purists, and Americans tend to fall for American luxury SUVs at wits’ end.

Being a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, BMW X7, and Audi Q7, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer offers a similar set of features to the much more expensive Range Rover. Above this, the Grand Wagoneer is faster and more capable than the others. Nevertheless, if you still aren’t convinced why you should get the Grand Wagoneer instead of its European counterparts, here are some compelling reasons.

In an era where automakers are mad about EVs, Jeep still offers a taste of pure V8 muscle with a 6.4-liter V8 engine, besides offering the 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo straight-six engine of which is mated to the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic box. Both of these engines, irrespective of their induction systems, sound good, with impressive output.

The standard 6.4-liter naturally-aspirated HEMI V8 produces 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, while the twin-turbo straight-six mill offers 510 hp at 5,700 rpm and a meaty 500 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rates, offering 14 and 20 mpg in the city and on the highways, respectively, and a stout acceleration of 0-60 mph in 5 seconds. When it comes to towing, the V8 can pull up to 10,000 pounds while the twin-turbo inline-six offers up to 9,850 pounds.

The new BMW X7 takes 5.7 seconds for this run and can tow up to 7,500 pounds. The Range Rover, which is the most expensive of the lot, takes 5.5 seconds and can pull up to 7,716 pounds.

Most cabin parts are bathed in leatherette to reduce NVH levels and increase opulence.

The cabin offers best-in-class seating arrangements, with Nappa leather seats being standard in the base model and Palermo quilted leather seats in the costlier models. All trims have 20-way power, heated, ventilated, and massage front seats and second-row captain’s chairs as standard. The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Is A Minivan Alternative With Excellent Practicality2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Seating SpaceVia: Stellantis

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer didn’t struggle to make a name for itself despite being bulky compared to other Jeep models, which are sleeker. This is because this “Jeep” is just the perfect buy for large families, and if you’re looking for a minivan alternative, the Grand Wagoneer is an ideal proposition.

Jeep offers the Grand Wagoneer in two variants: the regular and the Grand Wagoneer L, which has a longer body and offers exceptional practicality and space. The Grand Wagoneer’s seating capacity depends on how it’s equipped. The interior seats seven people, but the optional second-row captain’s chairs ensure space for six people, while the second-row seating package seats eight passengers. The interior is the largest in the segment, with 206.6 cubic feet of volume in the standard models and 217 cubic feet of larger space in the longer Grand Wagoneer L variant.

More impressively, both variants offer best-in-class seating spaces. The front row has 41.3 and 40.9 inches of headroom and legroom, respectively, while the second row has 40 and 42.7 inches of headroom and legroom, and the third row has 39 and 36 inches of headroom and legroom. All these numbers, when compared to the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, BMW X7, and Range Rover, show that the Grand Wagoneer comes out on top.

The “L” variant is even more impressive, with 44.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row and 88.8 and a massive 112.4 cubic feet of total space behind the second and first rows, respectively. In addition, there are numerous ergonomically laid storage spots throughout the cabin for additional storage space.
