Australian David Micheluzzi is the latest golf star to find himself in the Guinness World Records after sinking the longest non-tournament golf putt on the DP World Tour
PGA Tour star David Micheluzzi sensationally set a new Guinness World Record for the longest non-tournament golf putt.
Australian Micheluzzi stepped up and only on his second attempt managed to sink the putt from an astonishing 139 yards as part of the DP World Tour’s Hero Challenge on the 7th hole of Yas Links in Abu Dhabi. Wild celebrations followed with surrounding players joining Micheluzzi following his magical moment.
Over 65 players attempted the putt, including the likes of Tommy Fleetwood, Min Woo Lee, Matt Wallace, Robert MacIntyre, and Justin Rose – but it was Micheluzzi who is now a world record holder. However, Micheluzzi has admitted that he didn’t know the putt attempt was for a world record.
Micheluzzi believed the DP World Tour was just having a bit of fun with the players, handing them the near-impossible challenge. “At the time I had no idea this was for the world record I just thought it was a bit of fun, 3 attempts later and I’m a Guinness World Record holder,” he said on Instagram.
Micheluzzi enjoyed his maiden season on the DP World Tour, playing in several countries around the world and Europe. The Victoria native played in Italy, France, Germany, England, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Qatar, Singapore, India, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
“I love the DP World Tour,” Micheluzzi told news.com. “This was the first time I’ve really gone to a lot of different countries and played different golf courses that I’ve never seen before. Next year most courses we’re playing are very similar to this year, so hopefully with a little bit of experience under my belt, I can have a better year.
“It will give me a bit of confidence to know where I’m going, probably less practice rounds because I’ve been there before, and also now actually having full status rather than being on the cut line of a few events. We get to play all around the world. It was so much fun.”

The 28-year-old isn’t the only DP World Tour player to find his way into the Guinness World Record books. Team France, which included Raphael Jacquelin, Alexander Levy, Romain Wattel, and Gregory Havret broke the record for the ‘Fastest hole of golf by a team of four’ in 2016. However, their record didn’t last long as a four-man team from England managed the feat two seconds quicker than the French with a time of 32.70 seconds.
Sean Crocker, Nicolai Højgaard, Min Woo Lee, and Wilco Nienaber took the four-man record in 2021, though. They beat the previous record by three seconds.
In 2019, Thomas Detry set a world record for the ‘Fastest hole of golf by an individual’, playing a Par 5 hole in just one minute 29.62 seconds at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina. Two years later, Marcus Armitage hit a ball 277 meters into the front passenger seat of a moving BMW M8.
