Abraham reveals James plea
Tammy Abraham has revealed that Reece James ‘always’ tells him to come back to Chelsea. The 25-year-old striker has been briefly linked with a return to the Premier League recently following his impressive performances for Roma.
In an interview with TMW, the former Chelsea striker said: “Just before I left Chelsea, [Fikayo] Tomori went to AC Milan and we talked a lot. I remember the phone calls, none of us could believe what was happening. We had been at Chelsea our whole lives and in a moment we were walking away.”
Then, on James’ plea, Abraham added: “I still talk to so many Chelsea players, James always tells me to come back. We grew up together and have known each other for years – players like [Mason] Mount, [Declan] Rice and [Eddie] Nketiah.”
Henry endorses Kvaratskhelia move
Thierry Henry has endorsed the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as Chelsea look to further bolster their frontline. Speaking on CBS Sports after Gli Azzurri’s 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League Round of 16, back in March, the former Arsenal forward said: “He can press, he can hold the ball, he can see a pass.
“He has legs to go on the break with Osimhen, this is why they understand each other very well because when Osimhen opens his legs it is not easy to keep up with him, but he’s with him all the time. He’s just the full package.’
According to Italian publication Il Mattino, as quoted by the Express, Chelsea have enquired about Kvaratskhelia and are considering a bid. He’s turned heads this season for impressive performances in the Serie A and the Champions League.
Bayern swap deal
Bayern Munich seem to have inadvertently given Chelsea the chance to hijack Arsenal’s plan to sign Ryan Gravenberch. According to German publication Sport1, the Bavarians will pursue a move for Mateo Kovacic if the youngster leaves in the summer.
football.london understands that the Blues are prepared to let the Croatia international leave, with Bayern said to be the front runners for his signature. Kovacic has just 12 months remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge and faces an increasingly uncertain future.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to be interested in signing the Dutchman from the reigning Bundesliga champions, with Mikel Arteta hoping to further bolster his midfield options ahead of next season. So, if Chelsea were looking to pile on the misery after snatching Mykhailo Mudryk in January, they appear to already have leverage in a potential swap deal.
