PUMA has today launched the 2023/24 Manchester City Home kit, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the club’s historic move to the Etihad Stadium.
The kit pays homage to the iconic features of the stadium and is inspired by the shirt worn during the first season at the new ground.
In August 2003, after 80 years at Maine Road, Manchester City made the momentous move three and half miles away to the Etihad Stadium.
This marked the start of a new era for the club, defined by new records, new legends, and moments of greatness. The 2023/24 Home kit is a testament to this legacy, celebrating the Etihad Stadium and all those who call it home.
The front graphic of the new Home jersey is inspired by the unique architecture of the Etihad Stadium, in particular the four giant turrets visible from the outside of the stadium that form tonal stripes on the jersey.
The postcode of the stadium is displayed on the back of the neck to celebrate 20 years at City’s new home and features a white V-neck collar that is inspired by the first kit used at the Etihad, the 2003/04 Home shirt.
As part of the kit launch, PUMA and Manchester City invited a selection of fans and club representatives – including young City fan and City in the Community participant Finlay, CITC Ambassador Alex Williams MBE, young female fan Esme and Mark McCarthy, a collector of Manchester City shirts – to feature alongside first team men’s and women’s players captured in the lead visual for the campaign.
Club Ambassador Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was part of the 2003/04 team during the inaugural season at the Etihad said: “The Etihad Stadium plays an important role in Manchester City’s history.
“Players and fans will hold special memories of moments shared there, so it’s fantastic that PUMA has taken inspiration from it for this year’s Home kit.
“I’m incredibly proud to have worn the Manchester City shirt and played during that debut season at the Etihad. I hope this year’s shirt brings back lots of memories for our fans, as it has for me.”
“The 20th anniversary of our move to the Etihad Stadium is a momentous occasion, celebrating the incredible rise of the club over that period. The new Home kit is a tribute to the incredible moments shared there and the unwavering support of the fans,“ said Marco Mueller, PUMA Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel.
“The jersey combines modern design elements with tributes to the club’s first season at the new ground, creating a unique and meaningful kit for the payers and the fans, celebrating the place they call home.”
The new kit features cutting-edge technology to provide optimal performance and comfort on the pitch.
Engineered with ULTRAWEAVE fabric, the kit boasts a structured, 4-way stretch design that reduces weight and friction, allowing players to move freely and comfortably. The dryCELL technology integrated into the fabric is designed to keep your body free from sweat.
The Replica version is made with 100% recycled polyester and equipped with dryCELL sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry and comfortable throughout the 90 minutes and beyond – no matter the time, pitch or place. Both jerseys are made with 100% recycled materials, excluding the trims and decorations as a step toward a better future.
Following the success of PUMA’s first ever kit launch in the Metaverse for our 2022/23 Third kit in August last year, City will also be highlighting the launch of the 2023/24 Home kit with a celebratory metaverse event on their Roblox experience, Blue Moon.
A virtual version of the Home kit will be available with player personalization options. The Blue Moon event will include digital merchandise, fun quests, photo opportunities and special appearances from some of your favorite City players and is available to access here
