The new ruler of Sakaar loudly declares whether Hulk is a hero or a monster in a preview for Marvel Comics’ Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1.
The following contains spoilers for Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1, on sale Nov. 30 from Marvel Comics.
Grand Priestess Venkiera, the new ruler of Sakaar, declares Hulk a “monster” in a preview for Marvel’s Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1.
Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1 comes from writer Greg Pak, penciler Manuel Garcia, inker Cam Smith, colorist Chris Sotomayor and letterer VC’s Joe Caramagna. The issue is set one millennium into the future following the events of “Planet Hulk,” a storyline which saw Hulk work his way up from a lowly gladiator to the planet’s ruler after he was forcefully sent to Sakaar by the Illuminati. Recounting the events of “Planet Hulk,” Grand Priestess Venkiera tells a crowd of her followers in a preview for the issue, “This is the story of the Green Scar. The Eye of Anger. The Worldbreaker. Haarg. Holku. Hulk. You know the old stories.”
Grand Priestess Venkiera then poses the question as to whether the planet’s former ruler was a hero or a monster. “Finally, my people, I come to you with an answer…He was a monster,” she tells the crowd. “And so were all the Haarg who followed him.” Grand Priestess Venkiera continues to explain that, while it may have promised freedom, Hulk’s rule only brought destruction to the planet. “Shattered Earth!” she declares. “Molten rivers! Ashen skies! Beasts driven mad and murderous by unnatural change…alien vines strangling the golden fields of our ancestors…and green-skinned monsters roaming among us.” The preview then introduces readers to Balo and Tala, two green-skinned characters who appear to be hunted by Grand Priestess Venkiera’s forces.
