Bruce Banner’s Hulk is called the strongest one there is, but when it comes to gamma powers, the Queen of all Hulks has abilities he can’t imagine.
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Hulk #14As far as strength levels are concerned, any Marvel Comics character who can be considered a Hulk is in a league of their own, and Monolith, the Queen of the Hulks, is no exception. From Bruce Banner’s classic savage alter ego to the Hulk’s own deadly new Hulk form called Titan, these gamma-powered beings are some of the most dangerous that the Marvel Universe has to offer. But it seems that the mother of all Hulks could be more dangerous than anyone realizes.
Throughout the recent “Starship Hulk” arc, Bruce Banner and his infamous other half have seen some pretty incredible things including an entire Hulk Planet. And with said planet comes an incredibly powerful new character: Monolith, the Queen of the Hulks. And Hulk #14 gives this mutate monarch the opportunity to prove just how she’s the strongest queen there is. Hulk #14 by Ryan Ottley, Cliff Rathburn, and Marte Gracia sees Hulk’s Titan form devastating Queen Monolith’s Hulk Planet and trouncing anyone that gets in his way, including the Queen herself. But using her own signature abilities, Monolith absorbs some of Titan’s own gamma power, unleashing it back at him with a force powerful enough to blast him off-planet.
The Queen Hulk Defends Her Kingdom
Ultimately, this is only a temporary setback for the nigh-unstoppable Titan, but it’s an impressive and unique ability nonetheless. It’s also one that Monolith takes full advantage of when she manages to absorb the freely given gamma of several of her mutate subjects in a last-ditch effort to defeat the corrupted Hulk. In the end, Titan is defeated not by Monolith, but that doesn’t diminish the incredible possibilities her abilities raise, or what they say about her potential power levels.
As the Hulk Planet’s gamma-powered queen, it should be no wonder that Monolith should truly be a force with which to be reckoned. After all, even the weakest gamma mutate is incredibly powerful, and Monolith has made it clear that she’s a Hulk-level player. But it’s this unique gamma-absorption ability that truly gives her the edge over her fellow mutates.
Monolith Is Queen Of The Hulks For A Reason
Monolith isn’t the only Hulk with the ability to absorb energy as the Red Hulk would be quick to remind readers, but fans have seen just how much danger that sort of power could pose when used against another Hulk. And if Monolith ever had to truly face the classic Hulk one-on-one, there’s nothing to say that she couldn’t use his own limitless rage and gamma energy against him with a maneuver he’d have no way of matching. It’s even possible that she could manage to drain the gamma entirely from his form, ultimately reducing him to his Bruce Banner identity if need be.
The Hulk may be one of Marvel’s physically powerful characters, but that doesn’t necessarily make him the strongest one of all. And with Hulk Planet’s ruler constantly aided by devoted subjects willing to lend her their energy, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be reclaiming his title anytime soon. Ultimately, when compared to Monolith, Marvel Comics’ Hulk is just another power source.
