“She didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink.”
Francia Raisa’s father has confronted Selena Gomez, saying the singer didn’t stop drinking after his daughter donated a kidney to her.Francia donated a kidney to Selena back in 2017, after she suffered kidney failure due to an ongoing battle with lupus. The pair had been friends for 10 years, after bonding as child actors.

In recent years, however, fans have questioned whether their friendship is still intact, and now, it seems Selena’s drinking may be to blame. The friendship was placed under scrutiny when Gomez called Taylor Swift “her only friend in the industry”, in an interview with Rolling Stone in November 2021.While Gomez didn’t specify which industry she was referring to, many fans took the comment as a slight against Raisa, who works in the television industry. And it seemed that Raisa felt the same way, commenting “interesting” under an Instagram post that highlighted Gomez’s quote. However, when a TikTok fan posted a video examining Gomez’s quote, Gomez was quick to reply with, “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”Rumours of a feud accelerated when Francia was noticeably absent from Selena’s hit documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.

And now, it seems Francia’s father has confirmed the rift, saying that Francia was hurt by Selena’s continued drinking following the kidney donation, a habit that would undoubtedly put the new kidney under stress. In an interview on the Spanish show Primer Impacto, he said, “Love, money and fame changes the whole world, including Selena.””There’s a difference when Selena is drinking. Francia told Selena that she didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink.”As it stands, neither of the women have responded to the comments, so the status of this very complicated friendship remains unknown.
