Jason Momoa went shirtless to show off his toned abs while posing on the cover of Men’s Health for the latest May/June issue and admitted he feels like an ‘aging superhero.’
The Game Of Thrones alum, 43, who has been announced to star in an upcoming Minecraft film, explained that he had suffered a hernia injury while shooting the Aquaman sequel in March 2022, prompting him to no longer be able to sit ups.
However, with Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom slated to hit theaters later this year on December 20, and working on his upcoming Apple TV+ series titled, Chief Of War, the father of two has found other ways to stay in shape.
The actor, who tackled a villainous role in Fast X, which hits theaters next month on May 19, expressed that he uses kettle bells, banded exercises, and does boxing to keep up his muscular physique, although sit ups are now out of the question.
While posing on the cover, Jason proved he was far from an ‘aging superhero’ and flashed his bulging biceps as he leaned one hand on the back of a Land Rover that was parked on a sandy shore.

The star has been filtering through a busy schedule, and has reprised his role as Aquaman in the upcoming sequel that premieres at the end of this year, with Ben Affleck, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, and Amber Heard making appearances.
While talking to Men’s Health, Momoa admitted that he was surprised by the first film’s success, which has led to a sequel, and possibly a third film as well farther in the future.
‘Well, to be perfectly honest, I was absolutely baffled that Aquaman was received so well,’ he stated. ‘I’ve done things that are amazing that no one sees and no one gives a s**t about.’
‘You just don’t know in this business,’ Jason continued. ‘I don’t go do things and think, ‘Oh, I’m gonna get $1 billion on this one.’ I go in and do my best job.’ The DC film, which released in 2018, garnered a whopping total of over $1 billion in box office sales.
With filming finished for the sequel, the Baywatch actor is jumping into a different franchise: Fast & The Furious.
Fast X, which premieres next month in May, will also see Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Rita Moreno on the big screen, with Jason portraying the villain.
An additional film, which will be part two, is set to be released, and will ultimately conclude the beloved franchise.

‘I saw the first Fast and the one that was in Brazil [Fast Five], and they’re amazing—they always are,’ the actor recalled.
‘I talked to Vin and said, ‘Yo, Daddy-o, I’m here to support you, but I’m going to do it my way. I’m going to be a bad man, and you’re going to want to take me out!’ Jason humorously explained.
The Hawaii native gushed that both Diesel and director, Louis Leterrier, were big supporters for his ‘weird and bold’ choices when it came to portraying his character.
‘For the finale of this great saga we wanted to bring in a super interesting and formidable villain,’ Vin told Men’s Health.
‘It was important to create the space where Jason could feel comfortable to produce some great work, to flesh out his character in a way that supports a talent’s creative drive,’ he added to the publication.
Aside from appearing on the big screen, the star has also been working on his own Apple TV+ series titled, Chief Of War, which he calls not only his ‘baby,’ but also his ‘dream’ and ‘holy grail.’
‘It’s like my Braveheart or Dances With Wolves. I never thought it would be this big. It’s the hardest, most challenging, most demanding thing I’ve ever done. It’s the last big dream I have left,’ he told the outlet.
According to an official synopsis on the streaming site, the premise tells the story of, ‘the unification of the Hawaiian Islands from an indigenous perspective.’

The actor added that Chief Of War is, ‘for Indigenous kids growing up, understanding that we were warriors and what we come from and understanding there was a language that was stripped from us.’

While far away on another continent, Momoa admitted that he misses his children, Lola, 15, and Nakoa-Wolf, 14, whom he shares with his ex, Lisa Bonet.
The former couple first began dating in 2005 and later tied the knot in 2017. However, in January 2022, the two announced that they had split.
‘I make them send me clips all the time,’ he admitted, which include videos of them climbing, a sport that the actor also enjoys himself. ‘I’m watching my heart climb up the wall.’

‘Climbing is what keeps me grounded in a chaotic world that just wants more of me. It keeps me centered, keeps me in the dirt, keeps me humble, and keeps me stoked,’ he later added.
Jason explained the lessons that could be learned within the sport as well. ‘That’s the thing I try to teach my children right now. There’s nothing worth doing if it’s not gonna be hard and it’s not gonna be a struggle.’
‘I don’t get to see my kids right now for a very long time. I gotta share things with them. I’m doing everything that I want to do, everything that I’m designed to do. And you’ve got to do that. I want my children to know that and do that.’
However, while talking to Men’s Health, he admitted that acting, ‘is not what I wanna do for a living’ and has a desire to ‘go back to making art, to painting, to writing, you know, raising a family, and then making significant environmental change.’
