The pair had never met each other before.
Marcus Rashford has been labelled a “gent” for coming to the aid of female footballer Alisha Lehmann in a nightclub.
The pair were enjoying separate nights out in Manchester in April, and both ended up at Chinawhite nightclub in the city centre.
But Aston Villa forward Lehmann was apparently crowded on her arrival at the club, to the extent that Rashford felt the need to intervene.
Even though he had never met the 24-year-old Switzerland international before, Rashford recognised her and invited her and her friends into a private area of the club away from the crowds.
“Marcus cleared a table and invited her and her friends to join them,” a source at Chinawhite told the Sun.
“It was the first time they’d met but he knew who Alisha was. They exchanged a few words and she thanked him then they carried on partying with their separate sets of friends. She thought he was a gent.”
The Manchester United player has enjoyed his most prolific season in front of goal for the club, having bagged 29 times so far this season. His goals have been a crucial part of a successful season for United.
With just five games to go, they are on the verge of a top-four finish in the Premier League, and they could yet complete a domestic cup double with an upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City next month, having already won the League Cup this season.
Meanwhile, Lehmann has also had a successful season as part of Carla Ward’s Aston Villa side. In just their third season in the Women’s Super League since promotion, the Villains are fifth in the league and reached the FA Cup semi-finals this season.
They’ll be hoping to finish the season strongly and have the right to call themselves the closest challengers to the big four teams of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.
