Many would recognize Dwayne Johnson as a wrestler or even as a Hollywood actor. However, the renowned personality has also turned into a co-owner of a football league in August 2020. Since then, he has faced many ups and downs in his journey as an XFL owner. But recently the professional American football minor league concluded its second season under the new ownership.
The Rock revived the XFL from the hands of Vince McMahon to expand the football network in the USA. He picked up the league to slot in the NFL offseason. However, things looked bleak for the football league, early into the reboot. But neither Johnson nor did his ex-wife and co-owner of XFL, Dany Garcia, lose faith in the venture. And now it appears as if they have created a league that some players prefer over the NFL as well.
Dwayne Johnson feels grateful as the XFL season concludes
A few days ahead of The Rock’s 51st birthday, his football league concluded its season on a significant note. It looks like the former wrestler has already received his birthday gift, as his football journey came to a full circle.
The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment acquired the XFL to create opportunities for players who love the game immensely. However, he knows many players from this league will go to the NFL. But as per the nine-year veteran NFL player, Sam Acho, some players currently prefer to play in the XFL.
Along with concluding a season successfully, a remark like this has made Johnson’s day. Following this, he took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the same.
Here’s a beautiful part from Johnson’s recent Tweet, “Many will go on to the @NFL and we’ll be right there rooting them on! But many will stay in the XFL because they want to build something special with us and their XFL cities & passionate fans. Big grateful & motivated smile on my face when I heard Sam & Lowell say this.”
It’s evident that this XFL season ended on great terms for Dwayne Johnson. Now fans await for the XFL playoffs to begin. Similar to the NFL, the XFL playoffs will also see the division winners host the semifinal games. It is scheduled to be held in the coming week. When will XFL Playoffs begin?
