“The rivalry between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler is intensifying as tensions continue to rise.”
The mental warfare between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler is ramping up ahead of their impending Octagon clash.
McGregor and Chandler are expected to square off later this year in a highly-anticipated fight. McGregor will return after two years away from competition stemming from a nasty leg break he suffered at UFC 264.
Amidst McGregor’s absence, Chandler has risen as one of the UFC fan favorites. His back-and-forth clashes with the likes of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, and others have propelled his name value.
Chandler has hinted at a fight with McGregor over the past year, most recently after a loss to Poirier at UFC 281. He’ll get his wish after the two collided as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 31, which will debut next month.
While there’s an element of mutual respect between Chandler and McGregor, things have become heated in recent weeks. Chandler plans on making McGregor think twice before considering stepping into the Octagon again after their battle.
Michael Chandler Vows To Send Conor McGregor Toward Retirement
Buoyed by watching Israel Adesanya cap off a lively UFC 287 event with a knockout of long-time rival Alex Pereira, Chandler painted a dark picture of his upcoming fight with McGregor.
These big fight nights always make me want to fight so bad. Can’t wait to go out there and beat @TheNotoriousMMA within an inch of his career. #ufc287

“These big fight nights always make me want to fight so bad,” Chandler tweeted. “Can’t wait to go out there and beat [Conor McGregor] within an inch of his career.”
It didn’t take long for McGregor to respond.
I sweat you, and all of you, not one iota. https://t.co/xJXCqeEhTU

“I sweat you, and all of you, not one iota,” McGregor replied.
McGregor is aiming to get back in the win column after losses in three of his last four fights. In 2021, he lost back-to-back fights to Poirier by stoppage, putting a halt to his UFC title aspirations.
A win over Chandler could potentially set up McGregor for another shot at UFC gold, but Chandler has other plans. He plans on challenging McGregor in all aspects of MMA, particularly on the feet.
McGregor vs. Chandler is one of the biggest fights of 2023, and things between the two sides are beginning to heat up as they ramp up preparation for war.
