Chelsea ‘will NOT facilitate a return to Barcelona for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’ and ‘would prefer to sell him to Inter Milan’ – with Blues ‘angry’ over the striker’s ‘disaster’ move from Spain.
Chelsea will not facilitate a return to Barcelona for wantaway striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports in Spain.
The 33-year-old striker joined Chelsea in September last year but his spell at the club has not gone to plan so far and he’s remained on the periphery of the squad this season.
His departure from west London seems inevitable in the summer and it’s raised the interest of a number of Europe’s top clubs including Barcelona and Inter Milan.
Aubameyang, perhaps, has indicated which side he’d prefer to join, after he joined in the post-match celebrations following Barcelona’s last-gasp win over Real Madrid.
However, the former Arsenal striker may not get his wish after reports in Spain suggested that the Blues are not willing to sell him to Catalan club.
Chelsea are reportedly reluctant to facilitate a return to Spain for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The striker is keen on returning to Barcelona but Chelsea do not want to sell to Xavi’s side
According to Fichajes, Chelsea have refused to facilitate a transfer back to the Camp Nou for Aubameyang, despite his wishes.
The same outlet claim that the Blues are resentful over the striker’s ‘flirtation’ with the Spanish club in recent months.
It’s also reported that Chelsea are upset with how Aubameyang’s time in west London has gone and view the transfer as a ‘disaster’.
Because of this, the Premier League side would rather sell Aubameyang to Italian outfit Inter Milan as opposed to returning him to Barcelona.
Aubameyang has had a checkered spell in west London, where he initially moved to in the hope of reuniting with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.
However, within six days of the Gabon international’s signing, Tuchel was given his marching owners by new owner Todd Boehly.
Aubameyang has since struggled for playing time and spent long periods out of the squad altogether.
He last made the matchday squad against Tottenham at the end of February after a month out, coming off the bench in a 2-0 defeat.
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan have emerged as potential suitors for wantaway Aubameyang
The last time Aubameyang made the starting XI was against former club Arsenal at the start of November.
The Gabon captain will no doubt be eyeing a move in the summer transfer window should he stay frozen out of Potter’s squad, in a bid to recapture the form that saw him succeed at Dortmund and former club Arsenal.
During his time at both clubs, he scored a combined 233 goals in 376 appearances.
This season, he has scored once in the Premier League and twice in the Champions League across a combined 18 games.
