Manchester United fans are loving Jadon Sancho’s revival following his break from football – and so is Kylian Mbappe.
The 22-year-old earnt himself a Carabao Cup winners’ medal after the Red Devils beat Newcastle 2-0 in the final at Wembley, and the winger has received a flood of support on social media since.
Posting a picture on his Instagram of him beaming with the trophy alongside fellow Man United star Marcus Rashford, Sancho wrote: “Carabao Cup winners!”
Plenty of big name stars, including Man United legend Rio Ferdinand commented congratulating the star, but Red Devils fans are getting excited over one comment in particular.
Fellow winger, France international and Paris Saint-Germain ace Mbappe had also reached out to the star in the comments, writing: “Good to see you with a smile.”
And as a result, Man United fans are hoping the PSG superstar’s message means he’s keeping an eye on the Red Devils and will be looking to make a move there before the end of his contract in 2025.
“Come to Manchester and be a legend!” one supporter replied.
Meanwhile another fan was already envisioning how he’d fit in the team, saying: “Oh what a front three.”
“We’ll be waiting for you at Old Trafford,” a third Red Devils fan responded.
Mbappe’s comment refers to Sancho bouncing back from the four-month break he took from football after his struggles with mental and physical health.
In his first season in Manchester following his highly anticipated move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, Sancho scored five goals, considerably less than his tally of 16 the season before.
Not long after new manager Erik ten Hag’s arrival in the summer, Sancho was given a break from October to the start of February, missing out on England’s World Cup squad in the meantime.
But since his return he’s scored two goals in five appearances, as well as coming on in the 83rd minute in the final to celebrate his side winning a trophy for the first time since 2017.
