Manchester United beat Newcastle 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final and pictures of their changing room celebrations have been released.
Alongside a guest appearance from Sir Alex Ferguson, the United team posed for pictures with the trophy as champagne flowed.
Ten Hag’s side took command of the Carabao Cup final when Casemiro headed in a brilliant Luke Shaw cross to give Manchester United the lead.
An own-goal courtesy of Sven Botman doubled United’s advantage and put them in complete control as they saw the game out.
The win ended United’s six-year trophy drought and all involved with the club seemed to enjoy getting their hands on some silverware.
After meeting Ferguson post-game, Ten Hag invited the club’s legendary former manager into the team’s changing room to join the post-match celebrations.
The pair shared a warm embrace in the tunnel before they joined the players to enjoy the win behind-closed-doors.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Ten Hag spoke about his meeting with the Manchester United icon.
‘He was there and he is a happy man tonight,’ he said. ‘The dinner that shows we are good and it shows he is really involved in this club and really committed.
‘We all can learn a lot from him. What he did for Manchester United is huge, an inspiration for all of us.’
The United players clearly enjoyed the occasion and will be hoping it can help lead them to more trophies this season.
The Red Devils are competing on all fronts and will surely use this win as a source of inspiration as the season progresses.
For a lot of the United team, this is the first piece of silverware they have won for the club and for some players, such as Alejandro Garnacho and Wout Weghorst, it is the first of their professional careers.
Garnacho made the most of the cup final win and the teenager posed for a picture kissing the Carabao Cup trophy as it donned the red of Manchester United.
Rashford was again key to United’s victory and is one of the few players that was present for both the 2017 Europa League win and the 2023 Carabao Cup final victory.
The England international is embarking on legendary status at the club and United fans will love seeing pictures of him celebrating the first trophy of Ten Hag’s reign.
However, fans will be hoping that there is not such a big gap before the club pick up their next trophy.
The Red Devils’ next game is an FA Cup clash against West Ham and it gives the side a chance to progress in another cup competition.
