Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes Jurgen Klopp has to “find an answer” to the reasons behind Liverpool’s struggles this season.

The Reds have endured an inconsistent campaign so far in all competitions, but are beginning to find some form. Liverpool have won their last two Premier League fixtures – against Everton and Newcastle – and are still in the race for a top four finish.

However, the rest of the campaign has seen Liverpool get knocked out of both domestic cup competitions and lose significant ground in the battle for the league title and the top four. But Klopp’s side are still in the Champions League, as they prepare to face Real Madrid.

Wenger has been speaking about his former club Arsenal, who are top of the Premier League and 19 points ahead of Liverpool who are eighth. When talking about how the Reds are different to where they were last season, Wenger says he thinks Klopp and co need to “find the answer” for the next campaign.

“I feel that you win it [Premier League] when you can and you don’t care about all the rest of it, you let other people talk and you take the title,” Wenger is quoted telling beIN Sports, via The Mirror. “Personally, where I agree with you is the conditions next year,” he added.

“They [Arsenal] will not be as favourable as they are now, so let’s not miss this opportunity. Arsenal have 51 points, which is remarkable after 22 games.” They have since won another game and are now on 54 points.

When asked specifically about Liverpool’s different fortunes this season, Wenger replied: “Liverpool not so long ago were running for four trophies one year ago. It’s spectacular. I certainly believe there are many answers in there, it’s never one answer.

“The staff and Jurgen Klopp have to find the answer, and when you work every day with the players you have to find the key to make that start again.

“Honestly, their home record is not bad. But it’s the way they have lost away from home, where they were usually solid.”
