MCU Hercules actor Brett Goldstein shares two unlikely ways that his character could beat Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the fight Love & Thunder teased.
Brett Goldstein shares two unlikely ways that his Hercules could beat Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios delivered a surprise last year with the introduction of Goldstein’s Hercules. He appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder‘s post-credits scene and vowed to kill Thor as a promise to his father, Zeus (Russell Crowe). The tease set up an encounter between Hercules and Thor for the MCU’s future and sparked debate about who will win such a fight. With only a few seconds of time spent in the MCU so far, the potential meeting between the two Marvel gods is all that is teased for Hercules’ future.
In anticipation of the two powerful MCU characters fighting, Brett Goldstein has now shared two unlikely ways Hercules could beat Thor in the MCU during an interview with Happy Sad Confused.
Goldstein initially responds to the question about if his Hercules could defeat Hemsworth’s Thor with some jokes about just how powerful he is. The new MCU actor quips that Thor does have massive muscles, looks like a god, and is incredibly charismatic. After seemingly getting stumped about what advantages Hercules would have in a fight against Thor, the realization that Goldstein has more body hair and is better at cursing was used to argue they could help.
He’s a big boy isn’t he, with all humility, he’s a big boy. But does he have massive muscles? Yes, he does. Wait, hang on a second. Does he have incredible unbelievable charisma? Yes. Does he have the ability to look like a god? Yes… Body hair. Maybe that’s the way I beat Thor… Yeah, he’s not a swearer. He wouldn’t know what to do. It’d freak him out.
Is MCU’s Hercules Stronger Than Thor?
The eventual fight between Hercules and Thor in the MCU will not come down to body hair or cursing, surely. Brett Goldstein and Christ Hemsworth’s battle will be a showing of their characters’ individual power sets. Audiences are extremely familiar with Thor’s power set thanks to spending more than a decade in the MCU, but even Thor: Love and Thunder made him more powerful than before. Hercules’ introduction in the post-credits scene did not come with any chance to show his powers. Still, the Olympian god should be evenly matched with Marvel’s prominent Asgardian hero when the day comes.
Hercules and Thor have very similar power sets in the comics, and that should be kept for the MCU. Hercules is among the strongest of the Olympian gods, which are equal in power to Asgardians. Both heroes have super strength as their primary power, with Hercules once being strong enough to lift Earth. He has even teamed up with Thor and their combined power destroyed planets. In addition to Hercules’ super strength, he also possesses near invulnerability and advanced regeneration. Hercules is truly immortal and is known to use powerful weapons like the Golden Mace with him in Thor: Love and Thunder.
When Will Hercules & Thor Fight In The MCU?
The epic fight between Hercules and Thor currently does not have a destination, leaving the exact time of the showdown a mystery. The Thor: Love and Thunder post-credits scene makes a potential encounter between Brett Goldstein and Chris Hemsworth likely for Thor 5 if Marvel Studios makes the sequel. Otherwise, the Hercules and Thor fight in the MCU could happen in Avengers: Secret Wars potentially. There is also the chance that Goldstein and Hemsworth’s characters will never fight and instead be forced to team up to save the universe instead.
