Johnny Depp along with many other actors with considered for the role of Jack Dawson in Titanic. However, Depp turned down the role because the script for the movie was 180 pages long which was simply too long for him to get through. He claimed in a Howard Stern in 2001, “I labored through about 15 pages of Titanic”.
He later regretted not taking the role in Titanic, because as of now it has amassed a total of whopping 2.202 billion dollars. Later in an interview with Rolling Stone, Depp said that he was so upset that he wanted to remake the movie in his bathtub.

Johnny Depp was one of the actors along with Tom Cruise, Macaulay Culkin, Ethan Hawke, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio for the role of Jack Dawson in the movie Titanic. Though the role was eventually given to DiCaprio, Depp went on to play another “Jack” who also spent his time on ships. These A-list actors had the ability to play in James Cameron’s movie, as they have already worked together in a movie a year before.
In an article by PopTimesUK, ex-fiances, Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder were both considered for the leading role in the movie as they were in an intense relationship, and people loved their chemistry during that period of time. However, the couple split a year before its production began and their separation made it unlikely they would film a movie together.
Now, it turns out that whatever happened was for the best as we cannot imagine Titanic without the simmering chemistry between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
The film was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won 11, including the awards for Best Picture and Best Director, tying with Ben-Hur for the most Oscars won by a single film. Titanic became the first film to reach the billion-dollar mark after the story of Jack and Rose captured hearts around the world.

As John boards the ship at the last moment, he meets Rose who is distraught about her marriage and climbs over the railing, intending to jump overboard into the chilling water. Though John was successful in preventing her from jumping they develop a friendship in which Cal and Ruth object. Soon she realizes her feelings for Jack when she tried to ignore and discourage Jack’s attention.
The ship being hit by an iceberg started to sink while Rose flees from her mother in search of Jack, who was locked in a room and they both barely make it to the deck. As the flooded ship sinks, Jack and Rose jump off the dock into the freezing water where Jack helps Rose get onto a wooden panel, barely enough for one person as Jack succumbs to hypothermia.
