Hugh Jackman became a household name in Hollywood with the 2000 film X-Men.
The Australian actor had a breakthrough with the 2000 film, as he brought Wolverine to the big screen. Soon after the release of the film, Jackman became a fan favorite. He continued playing Wolverine for the next 17 years before declaring that he would not be portraying the character anymore. Fans were devastated by the thought that they might never get to see their favorite X-Men on screen again.

Hugh Jackman Wanted to Work With Avengers Cast
As he announced his comeback, Hugh Jackman shared that he regretted the decision after watching the first 20 minutes of Deadpool. After this, he decided to call Ryan Reynolds to check how things were going. One thing led to another and he was finally back as Wolverine.

However, starring alongside Deadpool was not the only thing he wanted to do. During the release of the X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jackman expressed his wish to star alongside the Avengers. Jackman shared that he would love to fight Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, and would like to team up with other Avengers as well.
“Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his a*s. It’d be great… Consistency is incredible. Who wouldn’t want to be involved with that?”
Wolverine and Iron Man
While promoting his 2013 film The Wolverine, he also shared that he wants the studios to join hands and bring all these characters, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Spider-Man, and all the Avengers together.
The rights of X-Men characters were a major obstacle in bringing them into the MCU at the time. However, Marvel Studios is all set to introduce X-Men into the MCU, after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in December 2017.
While his wish to combat Iron Man may not come true now, the Logan star could join Avengers in the upcoming Avengers movies. It is still not confirmed whether Hugh Jackman would appear in future MCU movies besides Deadpool 3.

Will Hugh Jackman Continue Playing Wolverine After Deadpool 3?
Although fans are happy to see their favorite X-Man back in action, it might also not last long. Both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have said that Deadpool 3 would not interfere with the events of Logan. This has led many to believe that the film could include time travel.
The Prestige star has also said that it would allow them not to mess with what happened in the 2017 film. He might be reprising the character, but it could be his last shot at Wolverine. No doubt, the Chappie star is still in shape and could continue playing the character in the future as well.

But neither the studio nor Jackman himself has confirmed such news. Fans are expecting to see the actor in future MCU movies as well. Many also believe that his MCU debut will lead the way for X-Men in the cinematic universe.
There are still about two years left for the film to release, and fans are curious about Wolverine’s future in the MCU. However, with the cinematic universe already involving time travel and having introduced a multiverse in phase 4, anything is possible.
Deadpool 3 is set to release on 8 November 2024.
