It’s no secret that the pressure of being in the public eye can take a toll on celebrities – who can feel they want to keep their youthful looks for as long as possible.
And some try to keep their procedures private, and plenty of denials, eagle-eyed fans can often spot when their favourite Hollywood star has had work done.
In 2011, Megan Fox uploaded images to a Facebook album entitled ‘Things You Can’t Do with Your Face when You Have Botox’ to hit back at trolls.
Despite her claims, she was spotted making a late-night visit to the Diamond Face Institute’s surgical centre, based in Beverly Hills, in March last year.
Similarly, Kendall Jenner told her fans in 2017 that she hasn’t had cosmetic surgery, but she was photographed leaving a building where plastic surgeon Dr. Jason B Diamond is based in 2021.
Here FEMAIL takes a look at the celebrities who claim they have not had facial enhancements…
Meg Ryan, 61
Different look: Meg Ryan looked unrecognisable as she stepped out in New York this month in a rare public appearance (pictured left in 1993)
The 61-year-old looked unrecognisable as she supported friend Michael J. Fox at a screening for his upcoming documentary, Still
American actress Meg Ryan, 61, famous for her parts in Sleepless in Seattle and Top Gun, has long denied having plastic surgery or any enhancements.
In 2015, Meg told Net-A-Porter: ‘There are more important conversations than how women look and how they are aging.
‘I love my age. I love my life right now. I love what I know about. I love the person I’ve become, the one I’ve evolved into.
‘There’s a lot of hatred in the world today, it’s so easy to judge.’
However she stunned fans when she made a rare public appearance earlier this month, having not been seen in public since November last year.
She stepped out support Michael J. Fox at a screening of his new documentary ‘Still’ in New York.
Many fans described the Hollywood star as ‘unrecognisable’ and suggested she had work done to her face.
She boasted a plumper pout and wrinkle-free skin framed by her trademark blonde locks.
One user on Twitter wrote: ‘What happened to Meg Ryan?’
While another penned: ‘Wow. I would have never recognized her.’
Tom Cruise, 60
The star was pictured in July 2021 (left) with a slim face, but in October of that year, his face looked a lot puffier (right)
There has been much speculation about whether Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise, 60, had gone under the knife.
Fans have wondered whether the youthful-looking star has had a nose job, a hair transplant and Botox.
However, in 2012 when he was asked by Playboy magazine if he had undergone surgery, Tom said: ‘I haven’t and never would.’
He was pictured attending Wimbledon in July 2021, and appeared to be his usual self.
However in October 2021, the Top Gun star was pictured at a basketball game, where people noticed that his face looked more swollen and puffier than usual.
Dawn Attewell, Registered Aesthetics Nurse at therapyhouse.co.uk told FEMAIL the pictures were a result of ‘excessive filler’ and ‘post-procedure swelling’.
Dawn told FEMAIL that the change in Tom’s face ‘could be due to excessive filler, post-procedure swelling, or weight gain’
‘In the infamous October 2021 picture, you can see that Tom looked swollen and puffy, which could be due to excessive filler, post-procedure swelling, or weight gain.’
‘Often, surgical procedures such as a platysmal plasty, or neck lift, combined with a mid-facelift could create this type of swelling in these areas.’
And it seems fans who speculated that the actor had a hair transplant may have hit the nail on the head.
Alice Henshaw, a cosmetic surgeon, told The Sun: ‘At almost 60, Tom’s hairline has remained relatively the same, although slightly thinning, which does suggest he may have had hair transplants.’
Alice also believes the actor has previously had filler under his eyes and around his mouth and nose.
Kendall Jenner, 27
Dr Barrett, a plastic surgeon, believes Kendall may have had a tip rhinoplasty on her nose. Pictured: Kendall on the left at around 16 years old and right, now at 27-years-old
Being part of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, Kendall Jenner, 27, has grown up in the spotlight and was just 11 years old when she first appeared on our screens with her younger sister Kylie.
At 18 years old, she started her runway career by modelling at a very high profile event for a beginner – Milan Fashion Week.
Rumours started circulating after people noticed a shift in Kendall’s nose shape over the years.
However despite her changing appearance, she has long denied having any surgery to her fans.
In 2017, Kendall denied cosmetic surgery, writing on her app: ‘It’s all so exhausting.
‘As a model, why would I have my face reconstructed? It doesn’t even make sense.’
However in 2021, she was photographed leaving a building where plastic surgeon Dr. Jason B Diamond is based.
She wore a white collagen mask on her face and also covered her eyes with dark sunglasses.
Dr. Daniel Barrett, a plastic surgeon who operates in Beverly Hills, previously spoke about the procedures he thinks Kendall has undergone.
Although Dr Barrett has not treated Kendall himself, he told The Sun, that he thinks she might have had a tip rhinoplasty, which can cost between $15,000 and $40,000 (around £12,000 to £32,000).
He describes the tip of her nose as ‘refined’.
A tip rhinoplasty is meant to reshape the tip of the nose so that it looks smaller.
Dr Barrett also thinks that Kendall may have a cheek augmentation, as it pointed out that her cheeks seem ‘more rounded and full’.
He said: ‘There’s definitely some filler or fat grafting going on here.’
The surgery usually costs between $1,000 and $2,500 (around £800 to £2,000).
The plastic surgeon also thinks that the model might have had lip fillers, like her sister Kylie, and also a Botox brow lift.
Jocelyn Wildenstein, 82
Jocelyn Wildenstein posted a picture of herself in her teenage years – which also appeared to be slightly altered – as proof that she has never had surgery (left). On the right is a picture of her from 2022
The Swiss socialite – dubbed Catwoman due to her constantly changing features – has consistently claimed that she’s never gone under the knife.
She recently posted a picture of herself as a teenager on social media as ‘proof’ she had not gone under the knife and accused others of Photoshopping her images.
The 82-year-old penned: ‘#tbt that’s me #jocelynwildenstein at ballet classes in Switzerland at 15 years old – so maybe you should stop speculating on my image ! Press stop!
‘Stop please and stop photoshopping my images because you are all wrong .
‘Stop posting fake images of me. You will be able to watch the true image of me very soon on screen [sic].’
In 2018, she claimed to DailyMailTV that she had never undergone any form of cosmetic surgery.
Through the years: The socialite earned the nickname ‘Catwoman’ as a result of her exaggerated feline features, which have become much more pronounced over time
When asked if she had gone under the knife, she said: ‘No, especially when we look back at my pictures – I think of course I am maybe more beautiful [back then].
‘When we are young there’s a certain freshness we lose with the years. But you still find the same eyes, same high cheeks, or same nose. I think I was more pretty.’
Jocelyn’s fiance, Lloyd Klein, 55, also spoke about the public’s perception of his partner, adding: ‘I don’t understand the whole press and the Catwoman thing because [she has] always looked like that.
‘She never really did anything to change her face. I have pictures from 16 years old where she looks exactly the same as today.’
Salma Hayek, 56
Rumours circulated that Salma Hayek, 56, had a breast enlargement procedure in 2021. Pictured: Hayek in 2019 (left) and in 2022 (right)
Rumours circulated that Salma Hayek, 56, has had a breast enlargement procedure in 2021.
Hayek denies going under the knife, but admits that breasts used to be smaller.
Speaking on Red Table Talk, the actress said: ‘A lot of people said that I had breast augmentation; I don’t blame them! My boobs were smaller! So was the rest of my body.’
‘But they have just kept growing. Many, many sizes. And my back has been really suffering from it. And not a lot of people talk about this.’
The Hitman’s Bodyguard star said the increase is due to going through the menopause.
She added: ‘For some women, they get smaller. But there are some women that when you gain weight, your boobs grow, and other women that when you have children and you breastfeed your boobs grow and they don’t go back down.’
Salma said she first started experiencing menopausal symptoms in her mid-40s, and was given a questionnaire on the subject.
‘The questions were terrifying,’ she recalled. ‘They were asking me things like, ‘Are your ears growing and there’s hair growing out of them?
‘Are you growing a moustache and a beard? Are you easily irritable? Are you crying for no reason? Are you gaining a lot of weight really fast that doesn’t go away no matter what you do? Are you shrinking?’
Hailey Bieber, 26
Hailey Bieber has previously fumed about being accused of enhancing her face and said she has ‘never touched’ her face. Pictured: Bieber on the left aged around 14, and on the right, in 2022 aged 25
Hailey Bieber, the socialite-turned-model, 26, has previously fumed online after being accused of altering her looks.
The then 23-year-old took to Instagram to condemn online trolls who accused of changing her face and took aim at a post which compared her face now and aged 13.
Bieber commented on the post and wrote: ‘Stop using pics that are edited by makeup artists! This photo on the right is NOT what I look like.
‘I’ve never touched my face so if you’re gonna sit around and compare me at 13 and then me at 23, at least use a natural photo that wasn’t edited so crazy.’
However Dr. Daniel Barrett, made a TikTok video on his account where he compared two photos of Bieber.
He said: ‘I think physically impossible without getting a little bit of help from someone like myself to go from this picture to that picture.
‘Check out the position of the nose, the dorsum, and how refined it is in 2016 and how much smaller the tip is from 2011 to 2016.
‘That doesn’t happen from puberty or growing.’
Dr Barrett added that he think she has has lip filler and a genioplasty – which is a chin implant.
Zac Efron, 35
Zac Efron fans speculated whether the Zac had been under the knife after his facial structure looked different in 2021. Pictured: Left in 2019 with a slimmer jaw and right in 2021
The actor first stole hearts when he landed the role as Troy in High School Musical at 18 years old.
Now 35, Zac Efron lovers have speculated whether he has gone under the knife in 2021 after appearing to look different.
He was on a clip promoting an Earth Day special with Bill Nye when eagle-eyed fans pointed out the difference in his jawline.
Efron addressed the surgery rumours and explained that the change in his face was due to a jaw accident which occurred in 2013.
He said he shattered his jaw when he slipped while running through his house in socks.
He told the Men’s Health that his ‘chin bone was hanging off his face.’
Efron undertook physical therapy, when he decided to take a break from it, he said that’s when his masseter muscles – which are used for chewing – ‘got really, really big.’
He later told ET that he ‘almost died’ from the accident and that it was his mother who first informed him of the cosmetic surgery speculations, as Efron said he doesn’t really ‘read the internet’.
However Doctor Youn, a plastic surgeon based in America, spoke about the situation on YouTube.
He said: ‘I’ve treated jaw factures in the past and I’ve never seen this be an issue but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
‘But if you compare these photos of him (above) from 2019 to 2021, you can see his lips also look a little bit puffier.’
Megan Fox, 36
Fans of brunette beauty Megan Fox (left, in 2004 and right, now) started to speculate that she had succumbed to plastic surgery or injections after seeing her on the red carpet looking waxy-faced and with plumper lips
Megan Fox fans started to speculate that the 36-year-old had succumbed to plastic surgery or injections after seeing her on the red carpet.
And the rumours did not go unnoticed by the Transformers star herself.
In an interview with Allure in 2010 – one of the few times Megan addressed the claims – she did not hold back.
‘I will say for people who question the authenticity of my lips, you can clearly see that my lips are my lips,’ she told the news publication at the time.
But the statement did little to quell the accusations and, the following year, the actress was so exasperated that she uploaded a series of images to Facebook in an album entitled ‘Things You Can’t Do with Your Face when You Have Botox.’

The star attempted to prove that her forehead muscles are not frozen by pulling an number of facial expressions.
Unfortunately for Megan, in March 2022, she was spotted making a late-night visit to the Diamond Face Institute’s surgical centre in Beverly Hills which did little to back up her claims.
The Diamond Face Institute is aimed at giving patients ‘a more youthful, natural-looking appearance’ via a wide-range of surgical and non-surgical facial procedures.
Dr. Jason B. Diamond is a double board-certified plastic surgeon and performs everything from facelifts – that can cost upwards of $75,000 (around £60,000), according to THR – to dermal fillers like lip injections, Botox, etc.
