Tom Holland may play the role of a heroic and charming web-slinging superhero as Spider-Man on the big screen, but it appears that his chivalry does not extend to real life. A recent incident in Venice has sparked criticism as Holland was pictured failing to assist his girlfriend and co-star Zendaya as she struggled to board a water taxi during their romantic getaway.
The British actor was pictured in Venice last week, neglecting to help his girlfriend, the actress Zendaya, into a water taxi.
The couple, both 26, spent a few days in the Italian city, taking a romantic gondola ride and sightseeing.
But when they boarded the boat from a private pontoon at the five-star Gritti Palace hotel, Tom’s chivalry deserted him.
The star hopped easily on board, leaving Californian-born Zendaya to negotiate the transfer by herself.

Break: The couple shared a romantic getaway in Venice
And it proved tricky for the Euphoria actress in her tight maxi-dress, despite the high slit at the front.
The pair, who are thought to have been romantically involved for at least two years, met in 2016 when they were both cast in the Marvel reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Zendaya playing love interest MJ.
They have denied claims they are engaged, but are said to have bought a £3 million, six-bedroom home in Richmond, South West London, together.
Both actors are rumoured to be reprising their roles for a new Spider-Man trilogy.
