Chelsea are about to enter another new era, with the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino set to be announced and rumours circulating around summer’s transfer activity
Chelsea’s season is winding down, with two Premier League matches left to play under the management of interim boss Frank Lampard.
They start with a tough trip on Sunday to face Manchester City, with the Citizens needing one more win to clinch the Premier League title. However, with many Blues stars fighting for their futures ahead of an expected summer exodus, it could be a well-contested match between two sides who played out a hard-fought match at Stamford bridge in January, with a youthful Chelsea losing 1-0.
One interested spectator for the match will be Mauricio Pochettino, with confirmation of the former Spurs boss’s appointment likely to come within the next few weeks as details of his contract are finalised. Meanwhile, Frank Lampard will be hoping to help the Argentine make some key decisions about the shape of his squad going forwards.
Here’s the latest news coming out of Stamford Bridge.
Tammy Abraham opens up on transfer plea from Reece James
Tammy Abraham has opened up on his future following Reece James’s pleas for the Roma man to return to Chelsea amid their current striker crisis.
The 25-year-old striker has scored 36 goals for Roma since his £34million switch from Chelsea in August 2021, also winning the Europa Conference League in his first season under Jose Mourinho.
Fellow Blues academy product Reece James has admitted that he would love the England international to re-join him at Chelsea, but he may have unfinished business in the Italian capital.

Graham Potter’s stance on Jim Ratcliffe proposal
Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has reportedly met with prospective Manchester Unite owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe over managing Ligue 1 club, Nice.
It was revealed earlier this week that Ratcliffe and Ineos director of sport, Sir Dave Brailsford were keen to talk to Potter about the head coach vacancy at Nice, the Ligue 1 club that Ratcliffe also owns.
Foot Mercato have reported that Potter’s representatives have already held two private meetings with Nice officials and that the former Chelsea boss is ‘interested’ in the role.
