Aaron Ramsdale has announced he has signed a new four-year contract with Arsenal to keep him at the Emirates.
The England goalkeeper has been in fine form for Mikel Arteta‘s Gunners, and has been rewarded with a new deal that comes with an additional year’s option.
It’s also thought to have doubled the 24-year-old’s wages from the previous £60,000-a-week deal that he was on and is understood to be three years with the option to trigger the fourth.
Ramsdale has become a firm fan favourite, winning over Arsenal supporters since arriving from Sheffield United in 2021 following a £24m move.
Following Arsenal’s win over Newcastle earlier this month, Arteta told reporters: ‘It has been a big jump for him, from where he was, to play at a club like Arsenal and with the standards that are required, but he has really improved in every aspect. I am really pleased with him.’

Ramsdale’s performances this season have won over critics as well as Gunners supporters
The 25-year-old announced the news in a two-and-a-half minutes shared on Arsenal’s social media accounts
The news was announced on Arsenal’s social media accounts, with a two-and-a-half minute video shared of Ramsdale addressing fans.
‘How are we Gunners?’ he began. ‘It’s been a while since we’ve done this. It’s crazy to think that we’re coming up to two years since we last spoke like this. But let’s get it out the way.
‘I know you guys probably weren’t the most over-excited for the signing of myself and I totally get it. I don’t have any right to come here and expect you all to rate me from the get go.
‘This is a huge club and it’s had some top class goalkeepers along the way. But fair play, once I got into the team and I got my chance I felt like we understood each other a lot more. I feel your love and I feel like you feel mine as well.
‘Hopefully you get the idea that I give everything out there. It doesn’t matter how it happens, I take responsibility for keeping that ball out the back of the net. I’ll do anything in my power to keep that clean sheet.
‘Never doubt when a result is going against us, we are all hurting in the dressing room, players and staff equally. I know I’m not from around here, but you lot make me feel like I am. I get messages and love from people all around the world, so I know how big the club is.
‘You guys have taken my family in, made my dad feel like a superstar, it really gives a family feel to the football club. You make matchday so special and I can’t imagine anywhere else for my home stadium to be, or my home.
‘I feel honoured that you guys have welcomed me in and I feel honoured that the staff want me to stay. So it was the easiest decision in the world to commit my future to the Arsenal. So let’s keep moving forward as a club and make some more special memories.’
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta previously said he is ‘really pleased’ with Ramsdale’s work
Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, added: ‘We’re all so happy that Aaron has signed a new contract. The way Aaron has developed over the past two years has been exceptional, with his performances, contribution and overall adaptation to the club.
‘It’s great that we’re continuing to build our future with our biggest talents in our young squad. We’re all looking forward to enjoying many more years of Aaron the player and the person at the football club.’
Ramsdale’s fellow England international Bukayo Saka is also set for a new deal, which is due to be announced in the coming weeks.
It is belived the agreement was made in February, with the Gunners key to tie down their most important players from their title charge this season.
Arsenal are also pushing to tie down an extension for France centre back William Saliba, who has been pivotal to their strong defensive displays, particularly in the first half of the season.

Ramsdale has made 70 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club, and his efforts in turning them into one of England’s best sides have been rewarded.
He made his senior England appearance in 2021 during a qualifier against San Marino, and gained an additional two caps the following year.
Arsenal need a result from Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest to force Manchester City to earn the Premier League trophy with their own game on Sunday.
Ramsdale’s Gunners complete their season with a home game against Wolves.
