At the 2017 New York Auto Show, Infiniti Japan showed a concept version of its luxury QX80 full-size SUV for the 2022 model year.
It was dubbed with the meaningful word Monograph, making it clear in passing that this is what the next-generation crossover will look like.
The QX80 model, which «began» as the luxurious modification of the Nissan Patrol, has long ago acquired all signs of independence, including the choice of its own way of development and modernization, but up to now the Monograph is still in a rank of the concept, though much is known about it, including features of technical equipment.
For now, the current version of the SUV, which has undergone a restyling and received a new central display in the cabin (now instead of 2 screens, will be one large).
It did not change the car externally, except for two new body colors: Mineral Black and Coulis Red.
A lot more innovations were in the cabin, where the front panel, which is located 7.0-inch display «dashboard» and the two central screens at 7.0 and 8.0 inches, serving the new multimedia system INFINITI InTouch.
The functionality of the latter includes a Bluetooth module and a system of receiving voice commands, which in the memory of the entertainment complex is already about 6 thousand.
Review Infiniti QX80 2022 Monograph.
Infiniti QX80 2022 Monograph offers a significantly redesigned exterior, but here we should still make a discount on the conceptual appearance, not always implying the appearance of certain details on the production cars.
The Japanese call their new body design «muscular sculpture», and the new optics — a real work of art.
The new version of the premium crossover really looks monumental, continuing to carry the brand stylistics with expressive front end, where they remain in place and «scowl» headlights, and trapezoidal chrome grille, which has not changed its shape for a long time.
Interior
The obvious fact — the cabin of the current version of the model Infiniti QX80 hopelessly outdated, because it’s strange enough to see in a premium SUV two modest displays, serving as a multimedia and a navigator.
Monograph will allow solving this issue cardinally, but the version of the interior that was shown during the presentation of the concept car is unlikely to find a serial embodiment.
Then Japanese have offered a front panel with a virtual «dashboard» and a widescreen touchscreen, which passes on top of a torpedo.
And let such a stretched narrow screen looks spectacular, it will not be quite convenient for use.
What decision the developer will take — we will be able to find out already during the demonstration of the first pre-production version of the updated crossover.
Technical stuffing and characteristics
Current version of the Japanese premium SUV is powered by a 5.6-liter V-shaped «eight», developing 405 horsepower (560 Nm).
It is complemented by a seven-speed automatic transmission, working as part of a system of permanent four-wheel drive.
This engine can not be called obsolete, but its replacement is ready, and it is a 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine, producing the same 405 hp, but with 475 Nm of torque.
Important clarification: per 100 km. run «six» consumes almost 4 liters less fuel.
As for diesels, the Japanese engineers are considering using the 5.0-liter 314-horsepower unit, which today is put on the Nissan Titan.
Infiniti QX80: when will it be released in Russia?
The updated QX80 can be bought today at a price of 6.3 million rubles.
The manufacturer has no plans to stop official sales of its premium SUV in Russia, so you can count on the fact that with the release of the new generation version, the novelty will be in Russian car dealerships among the first.
