Numerous elite players have come from Manchester United’s renowned development system over the years, and a new group of potential young players is poised to join the Red Devils’ first squad.

Manchester United has a well-known history of providing a path for its youth graduates to join the team’s main squad.

The Red Devils have an illustrious 85-year history of fielding academy graduates in their starting lineups. That streak has been sustained in earnest thanks to players like Scott McTominay, Anthony Elanga, and Marcus Rashford.

One of the most recent players to make the first team is Alejandro Garnacho, an Argentine who has had a standout first season at Old Trafford. He has made 32 appearances and scored six goals, the most recent being last weekend against Fulham after helping United win the FA Youth Cup.

Amad Diallo is also expected to rejoin the United first squad next season after completing a productive loan at Sunderland.

Look at some of the potential successors to the youthful players on the United team.

Facundo Pellistri

After being forced to wait for his first-team debut, the 21-year-old Uruguayan will already be well-known to many fans. Since joining United from Penarol in 2020, he has already made nine appearances.

After a loan with the Spanish team Alaves, he returned to Old Trafford in time for the current season. Pellistri has only made one start for the Red Devils thus far, and it was in the Europa League victory over Real Betis. He’ll undoubtedly look to build on that performance going forward.

Kobbie Mainoo

Mainoo, another player who has struggled to get the first-team this year, has routinely trained with Erik ten Hag’s group all season. With three appearances in all competitions this season, the 18-year-old has also been given a few opportunities.

In the Carabao Cup quarterfinal matchup against Charlton Athletic, one of those appearances was his first start for the Red Devils. Since Mainoo received a new, long-term deal in February, it seems very likely that he will continue to play for the Red Devils in the future.

Zidane Iqbal

The young player has gradually advanced through Man United’s development system since joining the club when he was nine years old. Another of the crop, Ten Hag has offered him the opportunity to train with the club’s first squad this year.

Iqbal is the first British South Asian to play in the Champions League, and he has already accomplished a lot. His growth has stalled recently, but he will be eager to get back on track as quickly as possible.

Noam Emeran

While many of United’s most talented young players have already played for the Red Devils’ first squad, the same cannot be said for Emeran, who is 20 years old. With five goals in 15 Premier League 2 games, the kid is already making waves in the club’s youth program.

He scored four goals in his final three games of the most recent season, capping it off in brilliant fashion. The young player, like his U21 teammates, has been given the opportunity to train with the first squad and will be hoping to have pleased Ten Hag.

Omari Forson

Forson, an 18-year-old attacking midfielder, has an even better track record. He can play on either flank or in the centre, and this season he has nine goals and three assists.

With two goals in three games for the England U19s, his performance has been strong enough to earn him international attention. With only one year left on his contract, Forson needs to get Ten Hag’s attention as quickly as possible.

Shola Shoretire

Before leaving Old Trafford on loan in January, 19-year-old attacker Shoretire appeared twice for the Red Devils off the bench. He transferred to Bolton Wanderers on a temporary loan through the rest of the campaign.

Shoretire has played 16 times for the Trotters, who qualified for the League One playoffs. In a 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers on the penultimate day of the season, he scored his first goal for his temporary employers.

Shoretire had five appearances for the Red Devils prior to this season, three of which came in the Premier League. He will look to secure more opportunities in the future.

Hannibal Mejbri

The 20-year-old also played the entire season on loan and had a spectacular campaign. Mejbri, a 22-time Tunisian international, was a crucial member of Birmingham’s team the entire season.

He participated in 38 Championship games, with one goal and five assists. The boy had already captured Ten Hag’s attention before that.

He received appreciation from the United boss for his preseason contributions. Hannibal Mejbri played a few minutes, and in his opinion, he performed admirably. He left a ᴘᴏsɪᴛɪᴠᴇ impression.
