Ancelotti clarifies the future after the defeat against Man City

Coach Carlo Ancelotti immediately had an answer about his future after Real Madrid’s disastrous defeat to Man City in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

“No one doubts my future at Real Madrid. Fifteen days ago, I clearly agreed with President Perez that I would continue to lead Real Madrid. Next season, I will still be here and will fight with Real Madrid to win the Champions League again. This defeat will be an important step for us to continue to improve ourselves,” coach Ancelotti shared in the press conference after the Real Madrid – Man City match.

Earlier, after Real Madrid won the King’s Cup on May 7, president Florentino Perez said he did not want to hear any more rumors that coach Carlo Ancelotti could leave Real Madrid this summer. The head of Los Blancos also affirmed that he fully supports the Italian military leader to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu at least until the contract ends in 2024.

Obviously, a 0-4 defeat is very difficult to swallow for a team of Real Madrid’s stature, especially in the context that they are the defending champion of the tournament. Therefore, coach Ancelotti is determined to stay to help Los Blancos come back strong next season. Despite being assured of the future by the leadership, the Italian military leader is still under great pressure from public opinion. Before receiving the heaviest defeat in Champions League history and being turned into a former king, the White Vulture also lost the La Liga championship to rival Barca.

Real Madrid officially closed the 2022/23 season with 3 titles including Copa del Rey, European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Regarding Ancelotti personally, he was also somewhat comforted when he officially broke Sir Alex Ferguson’s great record in the semi-final second leg against Man City, to become the coach with the most Champions League matches with 191 matches.
