A clip from DC Studios’ highly-anticipated The Flash movie teased the chemistry between Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen and Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West.
Shared on Tiktok, the footage shows Barry using his speedster powers to clean up his messy apartment after Iris suddenly requested to have a chat with him. However, he eventually fails to impress Iris when he clumsily reveals the piled-up trash he’s been hiding. Miller and Clemons are currently the latest live-action iteration of Barry Allen and Iris West, following Grant Gustin and Candice Patton in The CW’s Arrowverse shows. Both characters were created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Carmine Infantino in 1956.
Miller and Clemons’ first on-screen appearance as the iconic DC couple was originally going to be in 2017’s Justice League film. However, their scene ultimately didn’t make Joss Whedon’s final cut. In 2021, DC fans were finally given the chance to see Barry and Iris’ deleted scene in Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut for HBO Max. The upcoming standalone DC film will reunite the pair after nearly seven years since they first filmed together for Justice League.
In a previous interview, Clemons shared her reaction to the controversies surrounding Miller, who was arrested multiple times throughout 2022 for different charges including second-degree assault in Hawaii and felony burglary in Vermont. “What people forget is that a lot of people go through that, but they don’t do it with the whole world watching,” she said. “Although it comes with the territory, it’s really unfair and has been hard watching that.”
Ezra Miller’s Journey to Recovery
The Flash director Andy Muschietti recently provided an update regarding Miller’s current progress with their recovery, assuring fans that “Ezra is well now” and is continuing to take “steps to recovery” in “dealing with [their] mental health issues.” As for Miller’s future in the DC Universe, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran expressed the company’s full support for Miller’s commitment to their recovery. He confirmed that a final decision will be made “when the time is right [for Miller], when they feel like they’re ready to have the discussion, we’ll all figure out what the best path forward is.”
The Flash is directed by Muschietti, who’s best known for his work on Warner Bros. Pictures’ film adaptations of Stephen King’s It novel. Besides Miller and Clemons, the movie will also star Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Michael Shannon, and Sasha Calle. According to the synopsis, the film will see Barry travel to the past in an attempt to save his mother from dying. However, when things go awry, Barry finds himself trapped in an alternate reality where his superhero allies don’t exist.
The Flash arrives in theaters on June 16.
