Our hearts really go out to strays when we see them. We can’t help but wonder where they were, what they are doing, and how they are going to get by.
Unfortunately, we see strays more and more often but there are people out there with kind hearts that know what to do and when to do it. That includes the kindhearted people at Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
That rescue center is accustomed to seeing strays in all kinds of difficult situations, but when Annie McHound was brought to the rescue, they were surprised by what they saw.
It seems as if the dog had walked into the backyard and wanted the homeowner to lend a helping hand. Annie was close to not being around anymore because of the difficulty she was facing.
The rescue thought that someone poured motor oil on the pooch but it turned out to be dried blood. You see, the hound had been bitten so many times by fleas, that it was covered with blood.
In addition, the dog was thirsty because of the hot temperatures and was anemic because of the loss of blood. she was also skinny and weak and could hardly stand on her own feet. It was a bad situation, but the rescue was willing to assist.
They wrote on Facebook: “We’ve named this little lady Annie McHound.” they then talked about how she was being eaten alive and needed a bath right away. The group was there to assist.
They gave her a bath with medication that would cause the fleas to die off. They had already done a lot of damage, but they knew the treatment she needed and they weren’t afraid to give it to her.
They said on Facebook: “She feels so much better already – to be free from this insane heat, free from being a host to blood-sucking pests, free from loneliness, from thirst, and free from worry.”
Her gums were back to pink again and she was looking much better. It’s a beautiful thing to see how well she is doing now that they have cared for her in the best way possible.
