Amid continuing legal troubles between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, an email the actress wrote to her ex-husband in January 2021 appeared on TikTok.
ET also found the email Angelina Jolie wrote in the court document. The letter begins with Jolie saying she “wrote this in writing so as not to offend”, before detailing her decision to sell the Chateau Miraval Winery wine company on the Chateau Miraval estate (France). ) of which Brad Pitt is part owner.
“It’s where we bring the twins home and where the wedding is in front of a picture of mom. This is also the place where the promise of what can last and where I think I’ll live to be old. Even now I can’t write this without crying. I will cherish my memory of what happened a decade ago,” Angelina Jolie wrote.

“But it also marked the end of our family and the wine business. I was hoping it could somehow become something that binds us together so that we can find light and peace. I see how you really want me now and will most likely be happy to receive this email,” the actress confided.
Jolie went on to write that she has noticed “many reckless behaviours, spending money in ways I don’t approve of, and decisions made without her being consulted” over the past four years, adding that added she “was traumatized by those decisions while he showed no interest in sharing the business or changing, quitting drinking because it is bad for our health, for our children. I was shocked by the recent image that was spread to sell alcohol. I see that as irresponsible and not something I want the kids to see. It reminds me of painful times”, while confirming that she did not feel she “could be involved, publicly or privately, in an alcohol business, when alcoholic beverages caused great harm to our family.”
Jolie then went on to write: “So the business is past the point where I can be a part of it, for the sake of morality and for the good of our family. I fully support you in finding a way to sell the company and get out of this difficult, painful chapter in our lives. The alternative is for the Perrin family or his associates to buy back all of your shares. Either way, I believe we need to move forward to heal and focus on the family where we have blood ties.”

Jolie also recounted an incident on a plane in 2016 in which she claimed Pitt “ran at his child” and “strangled one of the children and then hit another in the face”. Jolie also accused Pitt of “pouring beer” on her and “pouring beer and red wine on the children”. In the same month of the incident, Jolie filed for divorce.
She continued in the email: “I wish you all the best in your business, sincerely hope that the kids will feel differently about Miraval when they get older and visit you there. But Miraval for me really passed away in September 2016. Everything I remember over the years confirms that, sadly.”
Earlier this year, Jolie sold part of the Chateau Miraval Winery to Russian tycoon Yuri Shefler, prompting Brad Pitt to file a lawsuit against her. Pitt admitted that his ex-wife had sold 40% of the total asset value equivalent to $ 28.4 million and affirmed that only he was the one who made the winery successful.
Pitt also claimed that under the terms of their 2019 divorce, he and Jolie had “understood that neither of them could sell their share of the winery without the other’s consent.”
Last month, Jolie’s company Nouvel filed a $250 million lawsuit against Pitt, claiming the actor waged a “war of revenge” for control of the winery. According to court documents, the company claims Pitt “mastermind a hitherto successful scheme” to take control of Chateau Miraval Winery and use the business as his own “personal manor.”
Brad Pitt’s battle with alcoholism as well as the alleged 2016 plane crash are also brought up in Nouvel’s lawsuit. “Pitt abused alcohol and it was publicly acknowledged,” the lawsuit states.
