All is not well at Marvel Studios. Just recently, a host of VFX artists came forward to show how hellish it was to work for Marvel. The deadlines, too early. Expectations of the quality of work, unmatched. And all this has made the working conditions unbearable for artists. And they couldn’t bottle it any longer. They took to Reddit to vent their anger. And just as Marvel gains notoriety for its mistreatment, Zack Snyder does the exact opposite.
VFX artists describe how it was to work for Marvel
Working as a VFX artist for Marvel is hell
The discussion was kicked off by different Redditors who have had the ‘honor’ of working for Marvel. The artists shared their horrifying experiences of working for Marvel.
A user, going by the name of Independent-Ad419 shared how difficult it was for them to manage the work. He wrote:
“Marvel has probably the worst methodology of production and VFX management out there… They can never fix the look for the show before more than half the allocated time for the show is over. The artists working on Marvel shows are definitely not paid equivalent to the amount of work they put in.”
Someone added how little time they have to get a mini-sequence for Thor ready. He said:
“On Thor, they ask for a complete mini-sequence 2 or 3 weeks before the deadline”.
This sparked off the debate about how hideous the working conditions at Marvel are. One user, Mickeym00m00, went to the extent of saying that he doesn’t want to work for Marvel anymore. In his words, they “expect a smorgasbord of options so they can change their mind three more times.”

How Zack Snyder treated VFX artists
Zack Snyder tried to make life easier for VFX artists
And on a different thread, a Redditor shared his experience of working with another director. The director was Zack Snyder.
The Redditor wrote:
“I worked on one of his shows once, and he came to the studio and spent like an hour and 1/2 or two talking to the whole crew explaining the movie from beginning to end lol. He literally went through every scene top to bottom haha That NEVER…..EVER..happens in VFX.”
Even Twitter knows that this practice is something alien to an average director.
They never show consideration to make life easy for their subordinates. Snyder did the opposite. He made the effort to make the task easy for his crew. The thread further said:
“Most of us VFX people are nothing more than peons to most directors to be ground down into dust, but he took a lot of time out of his day to talk to us and actually treat us like human beings. It’s just unheard of in this industry.”
This shows how nice a person Zack Snyder is.
Artist thinks Zack Snyder gets ‘s**t on way too much’
Twitter acknowledges Zack Snyder for his unparalleled work ethics
The Artist said that Zack Snyder was one of the best directors to work with. He described Snyder as a “fun dude that is super into what he’s making.” The experience of working on only one show with Snyder was enough to leave him wanting more to work with him. He added:
“I think he gets sh*t on way too much.”
And Twitter couldn’t agree more.
