A one-of-a-kind hotel in the UK is allowing guests to get an up close and personal experience with horses.

The Black Horses Ltd. in Cartmel, Cumbria is offering “Stable Stays” where visitors can spend the night in a converted stall within a horse barn.

From £250 a night, horse lovers can stay in a decked out stall that has a double and single bunk bed, mini-fridge, kitchen, dining area, and en suite bathroom with a shower.

A beautiful Friesian horse or an adorable Shetland pony will keep guests company in the adjacent stall with fresh hay and automated water.

Both horses are adopted and now live a life of luxury with regular attention from new people every day.

A partially transparent divider allows visitors to watch their equine friend munch away on their hay. Guests are welcome to feed their horse neighbors, as well as groom them with a set of brushes provided by the owner.

For those looking for a laid back weekend, these tasks can be done from the comfort of your bed.

Owner Tracey Alexander came up with the idea of Stable Stays from childhood books she read about children bringing their Shetland ponies in their bedroom to sleep.

She said “I am surprised no one has come up with the idea before”.

Though sharing a bedroom with a horse may seem odd to some, for others it is a splendid idea.

Tracey also said: “It’s quite surprised me because we’ve had a variety of different people coming along. Some people have never had anything to do with horses some people bring their children along and this is where JB is ideal for youngsters.”

Though the Friesians may be friendly, Alexander does warn that the Shetland may nibble. It is also important to note that horses have different sleeping schedules than people, so they can be heard eating and walking around their stalls at night.

“The breeding of Friesian horses is very closely monitored and they are known for being very people orientated, friendly,” states Alexander.

The hotel does offer ear plugs to those who are light sleepers.
