Following the end of the franchise, writer and director of the series, James Gunn will be officially out of Marvel Studios. He will be focusing on his version of DCU after taking over the studio with Peter Safran. So, what MCU has stored to fill the gap of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Looking at the nature of the franchise, most fans are in favor of extending the SpiderVerse with comic elements to fill the void.

The end of James Gunn’s Guardians is really sad for the fans but it is the end of the Star-Lord-led space-faring heroes. Interestingly, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is quite separate from the rest of the MCU movies and shows. It has far too less connection with the other characters. Even Thanos’ cameo has an original root to some major characters in the movie.
One user on Twitter raises the question of the void to fill after the Guardians stated that MCU will need a new franchise.
However, some users are more into street-level content like Daredevil, Punisher, Spider-Man, or perhaps the X-Men.
Spider-Man is far too connected, another tweet reads insisting on another unworldly franchise similar to Nova or Fantastic 4.
Some fans believe Spidey’s connection to the other MCU heroes does not make his franchise a strong contender for the replacement of Guardians of the Galaxy.
But the Hulk is out of the question for now but many fans believe X-Men could really occupy the spot bringing a wide range of new characters.
While some fans are rooting for Spidey’s new movies in place of Guardians of the Galaxy, others are more interested in X-Men and Fantastic Four.
