A two-year-old girl who has been identified as having a rare form of dwarfism weighs only 7lbs and must wear Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱsized clothing.
Due to a rare ailment termed Microcephalic Osteodysplastic Primordial Dwarfism Type II, Abigail Lee of Louisiana will only reach a height of about 24 inches.
The infant is smaller than ᴍᴀɴy of her toys and can barely fit into new-born garments.
Abigail’s mother Emily Lee, 25, was informed that her child wasn’t developing normally when she was Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ. Abigail was delivered through c-section and weighed only 2 pounds, 9 ounces.
Abigail grows two grams per day as opposed to an ounce per day, therefore the mother of two predicted that she would still weigh 7 pounds on her next birthday.
Just barely, she can fit into Nᴇᴡʙᴏʀɴꜱclothing. Therefore, I’m not sure what we’ll do when she is old enough to inform me she no longer wants to wear onesies.
“It’s mind-blowing” to see a two-year-old and my best buddy next to each other.
toy for children Ages enormous compared to hers She can sit in the table and chairs she has set up for her Barbies.
She consumes food normally, but because of her stature, she is unable to do ᴍᴀɴy things that a two-year-old would be able to do.
Eight weeks after Abigail was born, doctors discovered she had not grown at all and made the diagnosis.
Before being allowed to return home with her mother, father, Bryan, 25, and elder sister Saᴍᴀɴtha, 4, who does not have the ᴅɪsᴇᴀsᴇ, the tᴏᴅᴅler spent eight weeks in the hospital.
She consistently lagged behind in her development by three weeks while I was Pʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ, Emily remarked.
At 36 weeks, I had a c-section, and she entered intensive care right away.
She was eating normally and breathing normally, but she was very small.
We had no idea what this sort of dwarfism was when she was diagnosed because we had never heard of it.
I searched for months to find someone who had experienced the same thing and could offer assistance.
I didn’t know what to do after she was diagnosed, so I just sat in my car in the hospital parking lot and sobbed for two hours.
She is in good health, but she struggles because she was born with dislocated hips; she can only crawl and attends treatment.
Additionally, we’re having problems finding glasses that fit her because she has incredibly poor eyesight.
Sam knows her sister requires more assistance, so it can be challenging to strike a balance between a child with special needs and a child without.
Saᴍᴀɴtha is an amazing rock star; she participates in every treatment session and is very protective.
