Accessories stamped with CCs, Ds, GGs and LVs were all the rage during the early 2000s. Now nearly 20 years later, logomania is making a comeback, and this time, it’s spread to nail art.
We’ve spotted manicures featuring tiny, hand-painted logos all over the place lately – from the Fashion Week runways in February to the Met Gala red carpet last week.
Those who are still saving up for that Gucci bag, rejoice: Logo-inspired manicures are a lot cheaper, and they’re poised to become summer’s hottest nail art trend.
Designer nails: Celebrity nail artists like Miho Okawara are looking to logos and motifs from brands like Gucci (above) when creating new designs
Gucci girl: Artist Petra Collins wore Gucci quite literally from head-to-toe at party for the brand last week
Last week, Petra Collins, artist and face of Gucci’s new fragrance Bloom, showed her love for the fashion house with a pale pink mani-pedi embellished with the brand name stamped in gold on select fingers and toes.
Considering that Gucci is experiencing a resurgence under cool-kid creative director Alessandro Michele, it’s no surprise that motifs from the brand’s collections are popular among nail artists like Madeline Poole, who created Petra Collins’ look.
Another Gucci nail art fan is LA-based Miho Okawara, who counts stars like Beyonce and Lady Gaga as clients. In her recent work, Miho has referenced the brand’s signature red and green colors, its snake print, the horsebit embellishments seen on its loafers and of course the GG logo.
Images inspired by the brand’s GucciGhost collection have also recently appeared on singer Santigold’s nails after a visit to Mei Kawajiri.

Comme des logos: Nail pro Tom Bachik created a Comme des Garçons look ahead of the Met Gala (left) while Britney Tokyo paid homage to Supreme x Louis Vuitton for Coachella (right)
Though Comme des Garçons’ logo is iconic, only Katy Perry gave it a nod with her manicure at last week’s Met Gala, where the brand was being celebrated.
Celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik who tended to Selena Gomez’s nails for the occasion did play around with the heart-shaped cartoon ahead of the gala, however. His interpretation, posted to Instagram, featured an abstract metallic red heart over black graffiti.
Coachella also provided an opportunity for nail artists to have fun with logos. Celeb favorite Britney Tokyo gave Dnce’s fashion-forward guitarist JinJoo red and gold Supreme x Louis Vuitton nails for the festival.
Represent: Models wore fake nails that spelled out designer names at Kenzo and Marc Jacobs’ fall 2017 runway shows during fashion week
Boys allowed: Male models wore Balenciaga logos on their thumbnails at the fall 2017 menswear show in Paris
During New York and Paris Fashion Weeks this winter, fashion houses like Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga were feeling themselves.
At Marc Jacobs, a handful of models wore square-shaped tips that were painted black and emblazoned with gold appliques that spelled out the brand’s ten-letter name.
A similar look was spotted at Kenzo, but with blue and yellow polish and a stencil-like design.
French label Balenciaga borrowed from Bernie Sanders’ red, white and blue presidential campaign logo for its own ‘Balenciaga 2017′ logo at the fall menswear show. The design appeared on scarves, bomber jackets and yes, even the male models’ nails.
