Luis Díaz, along with the Sports Minister, Guillermo Herrera, met with 350 athletes from Barrancas to publicize the new schools that will be launched in that municipality.

MinDeportes made an investment of $881,666,666 in the department of La Guajira through the Sports Schools for All program.

The Colombian player from Liverpool of England, Luis Díaz, has not gone unnoticed during his stay in Colombia, during his vacation period prior to the restart of the Premier League scheduled for August 6 and which will end on May 28, 2023 .

The striker of the Colombian National Team was the protagonist of an important announcement for his department, La Guajira, whose setting was the sports fields of the municipality of Barrancas, where together with the Sports Minister, Guillermo Herrera, he met with 350 athletes to publicize the new schools that will be launched, thanks to the strengthening of the alliance signed with that office.

Since last April, the Colombian soccer idol joined the flagship program of that portfolio, Sports Schools for All – EsDeporte, which is, according to that entity, “the most ambitious social and sports tool in its history.”

“Initially, the alliance would allow the operation of eleven schools, for 550 girls and boys between the ages of six and twelve from the municipalities of Barrancas and Fonseca; However, thanks to the reception of the community, the commitment of Minister Herrera as the main manager of the program and the enthusiasm and support of the Luis Díaz Foundation, these figures increased”, said that office.

Consequently, there will be 16 training spaces distributed between the municipal seat of Barrancas, the corregimientos of Carretalito, Guayacanal and the neighboring municipalities of Fonseca and Hatonuevo. The investment for the five new schools is more than 150 million pesos and will benefit 250 girls, boys and their families.

“Thank you very much for receiving me like this today, accompanying me in this dream that I had a year ago when I arrived at the ministry and saw the importance of investing more in the comprehensive training of girls and boys in Colombia ,” said the head of that dispatch.

He added: “For me it is very important to give the youngest an opportunity so that they have an example, have discipline, learn to play, learn to win, learn to lose as well, and have better Colombians for the future.”

When announcing the expansion of sports schools and the allocation of a significant budget for children’s sports, Minister Herrera indicated: “Today I wanted to come here to continue sealing this alliance that we have with Lucho and tell them that we are going to do more, we are going to reach 16 schools and we are going to make an investment of more than one billion pesos here in La Guajira through the Luis Díaz Foundation to have more children benefited, this is my blue and pink dream”.

For his part, the Liverpool player stressed the importance of supporting sport at an early age and promised to continue supporting the sport of his department and stand up for his region, both in his English club and in the Colombian National Team.

“For me it is a pride to know that each child, each young person, follows me; I am very happy to represent them in this way as I am doing internationally. I promise you that I will give much more than what I am giving today; As always, forward, by the hand of God (…) I will continue, I will continue fighting for great things, for great moments, to represent La Guajira well, to the entire department, ”he said.

The Ministry of Sport pointed out that the extension of the alliance with the Luis Díaz Foundation ratifies the important role of the ambassadors of the Sports Schools for All.

Figures such as Dávinson Sánchez, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Falcao García, Yerry Mina, Nairo Quintana, Luis Javier Mosquera, Moisés Fuentes and the foundation of ‘Profe’ Gabriel Ochoa, are already part of the program that transforms the lives of more than 33,000 Colombian children .

That entity made an investment of $881,666,666 million pesos in the department of La Guajira through the Sports Schools for All program, which will contribute to the training of 1,150 girls and boys from 14 municipalities.
