The veteran goalkeeper revealed the anecdote
Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster has revealed that Ryan Reynolds offered him a special Deadpool gift in exchange for his shirt.
The 40-year-old didn’t hesitate to come out of retirement to join Wrexham and lead them to Football League promotion. He made a big save to deny Notts County from the spot late in a crucial game between the two title contenders.
“This is incredible right, so Ryan Reynolds text me the day of the game to say ‘can I have your shirt?’,” Foster told the Fozcast.
“I was like ‘yeah cool’ and he was like ‘cool because I’ve got something for you as well’.
“I was like ‘what on earth’s this’ so anyway he texted me yesterday and said ‘I forgot to tell you what it is’.
“He says ‘I was going through my memorabilia the other day of Deadpool and I found the original gloves that I wore in the film. I’m also gifting you the Deadpool underway, which to be fair, smells better than the shirt you gave me’.”
Foster went on to stress that his adaptation to the team was smooth and hinted that he could potentially play there next season too.
“I’ve played seven games now and I feel like part of this team more than any team I’ve ever been in, genuinely,” he added.
“I have settled in so quickly. The lads are brilliant and the club as a whole is so welcoming, so warm.
“The fans have been incredible and that has genuinely sparked my interest like you wouldn’t believe, where I am genuinely going to have to sit down and think about this now.”
