Goal.com are today reporting some interesting news from Spain about potential new Chelsea coach Luis Enrique.
The Spaniard is said to be disappointed by the decision of Chelsea to appoint a caretaker manager and continue their search for other candidates, rather than appointing him immediately after sacking Graham Potter.
The decision to appoint a caretaker is a curious one, given that not only Luis Enrique but also Mauricio Pochettino, Julien Nagelsmann and Marcelo Gallardo, the other three favourites for the job, are also unemployed.
It seems like a deliberate move to swing back the other way from the almost instant choice of Graham Potter back in September, with the ownership now wanting to do a very public show of due diligence.
We can understand Enrique’s frustration, given any coach would like the chance to get to work right away, even in bad circumstances like these. But he will have to be patient, for now.
