The Marvels movie trailer is released by Marvel Studios, featuring Captain Marvel teaming up with MCU heroes Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau.
The first The Marvels movie trailer has been released, featuring Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau. One of 2023’s highly anticipated MCU Phase 5 movies is the Captain Marvel sequel. Unlike the first movie, it won’t just focus on Carol Danvers, but unite her with Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau. The Marvels will continue the stories that began in WandaVision, which featured Monica getting her powers, and the Ms. Marvel post-credits scene that saw Kamala and Carol switch places.
Now, Marvel Studios has released The Marvels movie trailer, which offers insight into the story of the upcoming MCU team-up. Watch it below.
The Marvels completed principal photography in 2022, and it was thought Disney and Marvel Studios might unveil the first teaser at this year’s Super Bowl. However, none arrived and the Captain Marvel sequel, which was originally slated to hit theaters on July 28, was pushed back to Nov. 10. Marvel Studios additionally revealed the official synopsis for The Marvels, which can be found below.
In Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels,” Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
Everything The Marvels Trailer Reveals About The Upcoming MCU Movie
After the Ms. Marvel season finale, the biggest mystery surrounding the character has been how Carol and Kamala swapped places. The Marvels trailer establishes that Kamala, Carol, and Monica’s powers are entangled and each time they use them, the swap places with one of the other two. While it doesn’t answer the mystery completely, the footage at least confirms their connection and teases the film will offer real answers.
The Marvels trailer also highlights that Ms. Marvel will be introduced to Nick Fury, thinking at first that she’s being tested to become an Avenger. That’s the result of Kamala and Monica swapping places in one comical scenario. When Kamala later swaps places with Carol, the footage reveals the return of Goose, a cat-like alien called a Flerken. The Marvels trailer also offers some insight into the Captain Marvel sequel’s villain.
While the villain is never fully named, the character is played by Zawe Ashton, who can be glimpsed in the trailer. Further, the synopsis indicates Ashton’s The Marvels villain may be a “Kree revolutionary.” More about The Marvels will no doubt be revealed in a longer trailer, which will likely premiere at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Based on the first The Marvels trailer, this new MCU trio is going to be a fun group to follow when the movie hits theaters in November.
