Marcel Sabitzer gives surprise reason to explain why Manchester United drew 2-2 vs Sevilla
Marcel Sabitzer thinks Manchester United’s draw against Sevilla might have been caused by a lack of focus late in the game.
Just like against Everton at the weekend, United were outstanding in the first half of the match and they were good value for their two-goal lead at half-time, with Marcel Sabitzer netting a brace thanks to some brilliantly worked attacks.
Although the lead could have been more at the break, the tempo dropped after the interval and, following multiple questionable substitutions from Erik ten Hag, Sevilla slowly began to grow in belief and confidence.

Then in the 84th minute, Sevilla found a goal when David de Gea turned the ball into his own net at the front post. Lisandro Martinez also sustained an injury, which forced him to leave the pitch and Sevilla scored an equaliser in added time.
United were forced to play with 10 men after Martinez’s departure because they had used all their substitutions, but throwing away a two-goal lead from such a comfortable position left Sabitzer lost for words in his post-match interview.
“Yeah, I have problems finding the right words,” a disgruntled Sabitzer told BT Sport. “It’s like a rollercoaster game, playing a good first half, we had lots of chances. We had to finish the game off and at the end, it’s a draw, which is not what we wanted.
“We have to go to Sevilla and get it done there. I think we had to finish the game off. We had the chances, we were confident in the game, I think we controlled the game but unfortunately, we gave easy goals away.
“We cannot concede these kind of goals and we’re very disappointed. I don’t think so [foot off the pedal], but in competitions like this, you have to be focused until the end because you can give the game away.
“The last minutes were strange, with one mand own, but as I said, stupid goals and that’s not what we wanted. We’re very frustrated, you cannot concede like this, not focussed until the end and when you’re 2-0 up at home, you must win.”
