Chelsea have signed a total of 17 players this season under their new owners and look set for a major clear-out in the summer, with Frank Leboeuf predicting Hakim Ziyech will be among those to depart
Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf believes Hakim Ziyech needs to leave the club this summer, with the winger looking “sad and lost” at Stamford Bridge.
Ziyech has not even made the bench for Chelsea’s last four Premier League matches and has only featured in 13 of the Blues’ 30 league games so far this season. Since making the move to Stamford Bridge from Ajax in 2020, Ziyech has failed to establish himself as a regular in the starting XI.
In 102 appearances, the 30-year-old has scored just 14 goals and provided 11 assists and Leboeuf believes his time at the club is up. When asked who he feels should leave in the summer Lebouef, who spent five years at Chelsea, told ESPN : “Well, definitely Ziyech.
“The guy is not happy, and he wants to work. Every time he plays for Morocco, he’s the best player in the world, and every time he plays for Chelsea, he feels sad and lost.
“So I wish him to go somewhere else where he can show to the world he’s still the Ziyech that we have seen when he played for Ajax.”
The winger was close to joining Paris Saint-Germain on loan in January, but the move fell apart on transfer deadline day with Chelsea accused of filing the wrong documents. The Blues, meanwhile, blamed a ‘technology defect’ for the failed move.

However, PSG were not convinced by the explanation, with the club’s football adviser Luis Campos stating in February: “We had the player with us, we had done everything. But as with all transfers, you need all three parties to work well.
“In this case it worked very well for Paris Saint-Germain, it also worked well with Ziyech. Unfortunately, it didn’t work well for the last party.”
Whether PSG will revisit their interest in the summer remains to be seen, but Ziyech has also been linked with the likes of Tottenham and West Ham.
