The Sacramento Kings have been one of the best teams in the NBA this year, and they’ll finish the year with the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. They have definitely been competitive under the leadership of Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox.
Though they have finally broken their playoff drought as a top-tier seed, a lot of people aren’t sold on the Kings. Many believe that lower-seeded veteran teams should aim to face them. Klay Thompson has recently stated that he wants to face the Kings in the playoffs, but his reasons were a little different than people would expect. The shooting guard pointed out that it would be nice from a travel aspect, and because both fanbases are passionate.
“That’d be amazing…That’d be special for Northern California,” Thompson said per Jack Winter of ClutchPoints. “They’ve got great fans, we’ve got great fans. Mike B’s got them boys playing together and hard. That’d be really cool just for Northern California, which is a basketball hotbed at the moment. It would be nice for the travel; that would be really nice.”
Klay Thompson isn’t the Golden State Warriors player who wants to face the Sacramento Kings for travel purposes, as Draymond Green previously expressed similar sentiments. The Warriors look likely to be the No. 6 seed, so it is quite likely that they will end up facing the Kings in the playoffs.
This season, Klay Thompson has had a solid year, and he is averaging 21.9 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 2.4 APG for the Golden State Warriors. He notably leads the league in total 3PT shots made this year, and it is clear that he has gotten back to playing at an All-Star level.
Klay Thompson Is Confident In The Warriors’ Championship Chances
The Golden State Warriors are a dynasty for a reason, and even as a lower seed, they have reasons to be confident. They have the talent and the experience to succeed. In fact, Klay Thompson boldly stated that there is no squad that can win against a fully healthy Warriors team.
“I don’t see a team who can beat us in a 7-game series when we’re healthy.”
It is easy to see why Klay Thompson is confident in the team, and they definitely have a proven track record. If they are fully healthy and peak at the right time, the Warriors could easily win the championship, and it would be unwise to count them out with all the elite players that they have on the roster.
