Cheeky football fans have told Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to pick up the phone with ex-Champions League winner Isco ‘waiting for his phone to ring’ after Sevilla release
Wrexham fans have begged their Hollywood owners, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, to pick up the phone and try giving ex-Real Madrid superstar Isco an incredibly ambitious call.
The Spaniard has been a free agent ever since he was released by Sevilla in December. According to The Athletic, there has been interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, but nothing has led to Isco signing with a new club
Instead, the report continues, Isco is working at home with a fitness trainer, waiting for the phone to ring. And some cheeky fans on Twitter have suggested either McElhenney or Reynolds should give the former Golden Boy a buzz.
One fan joked: “Wrexham? Just kidding but I think Galatasaray is the perfect destination for Isco!”
“Isco for Everton don’t make me laugh, he will sign for Wrexham before us,” a pessimistic Toffees fan added. While a third added: “If Wrexham can sign Ben Foster then we should sign Isco!” Another even commented: “Ryan Reynolds about to give him a call.”
Other fans decided to take the transfer saga into their own hands by tagging either McElhenney, Reynolds or Wrexham in the tweet. While other fans were baffled he was still on the sidelines: “This is absolutely mad… How is he still without a club… He is soo good!”
Wrexham have already handed one former star a contract – when they convinced Ben Foster to come out of retirement to end the season with the Red Dragons.
Foster impressed for Wrexham back in 2005 – before he earned a move to Manchester United – and he came out of retirement to try and help his former side across the line and achieve promotion back to the football league for the first time since 2008.
Isco’s massive wages in comparison, though, make any hopes of Wrexham bankrolling an astonishing move beyond unlikely.
