Everyone has a dream supercar in their hearts. The Ford GT that stands on the shoulders of the GT40 that dominated Le Mans in “Speed Racer”. The number of LEGO supercar replicas is countless and will be featured at the first LEGO Supercar Car Show this March – the ultimate showcase for the “real players” of the top supercars of the world all at once!
And since it is a supercar show, there should be an adrenaline-pumping film in the pipeline, right? Ready? Get set, GO!
LEGO Technic vehicles have always been trademarked as the realistic replication of the real car. These wonderful details are part of the key highlights of the film.
In this film, no CG or motorized components were used. Instead, special props like a modified treadmill was created for the film to make the LEGO supercars really “move” for the first time.
An on-ground car show was held at 205 South Urumqi Road in Shanghai.
The special treadmill featured in the film was the key highlight in the show. Dynamically presenting the Ferrari SP3 on the move, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the sound of a supercar’s beast-like engine.
Another display is the “exploded” view of a Ford GT. Parts of the car were “dissected” and modified with LEGO engineering parts, highlighting the movements of the pistons in the engine cylinders and the drive shaft gears. All these details shown in full monty for our “real players” to feast their eyes on.
Similar to a real car show, each display has its own introduction and story. So whether you are a car buff or a veteran fan, you can learn about and also appreciate the charm of these supercars.
A knowledge wall was also set up at the show. Two key highlights within the collage is a magnifying glass that zooms into a moving engine, and”The Sense of Perfection” published by LEGO Books, which tells the complete story of the development of the LEGO Ferrari SP3 with in-depth interviews with the model designers.
Besides the official LEGO products, the car show also featured several unique one-of-a-kind fan-made MOC creations. An on-site workshop was also held for the little fans, giving them a hands-on building experience with LEGO vehicles.
