Karson was born with several health issues, and his family has already come to terms with the fact that they must say goodbye for good. Lisa Hough, the boy’s grandma, posted his incredible tale on social media. She stated that her daughter, Chelsea, made an extremely tough choice when she decided to have her son’s ventilator removed.
Hough said on Facebook that the best way to characterize what transpired is that this “wonderful little child” through two extremely uncommon and separate tragedies. In addition to having a bleed in his grandson’s left temporal lobe, he was also diagnosed with non-ketotic hyperglycemia, a metabolic disease.
This indicates that excessively high quantities of the protein-building amino acid glycine are present in the body. Excess glycine accumulates in tissues and organs, particularly the brain, causing severe neurological disorders.
According to physicians, Karson’s brain impairment might be so severe that he would function at the level of an infant of two to three months for the remainder of his life. After hearing the advice of the physicians, the mother consented to withdraw Karson from the equipment.
“While we were not prepared to say goodbye to Karson, we accepted the inevitable,” wrote Hough.
“When the machines were switched off, we were given 10 minutes with the warning that he would not breathe on his own and that his heart would cease within those 10 minutes. By 3:00 this afternoon, he was separated from the machines. God and Karson, however, had different ideas,” the grandma stated.
Karson’s heart rate returned to normal and he began breathing on his own once the ventilator was switched off.
“Five hours later, here we are with this miraculous infant, about whom it was predicted that he would never breathe, swallow, or survive. “He is breathing without assistance,” wrote Hough.
The physicians were unable to explain what happened. The only feasible explanation for what had occurred was a miracle.
“I have no idea why I ever believed we did not deserve a miracle. The grandmother stated, “I do not know how much time we have with him, but he is currently with us.”
A friend of the mother has also created a GoFundMe page to assist the family, and family members frequently update their Facebook statuses with information about Karson’s condition.
