Kevin Durant injury update: Shams Charania not ruling out Suns star’s clash against LeBron James on April 7th

The NBA world has patiently waited for a Kevin Durant injury update, and new reports have finally emerged. It appears the former MVP could make his return before the start of the postseason.

After being moved to the Phoenix Suns at the trade deadline, Kevin Durant only got a handful of games with his new team under his belt. Just before his home debut, he suffered an ankle injury after slipping on a wet spot during warmups. This has kept the All-Star forward out of action since the beginning of March.

During a recent appearance on “FanDuel TV,” Shams Charania detailed the latest regarding Durant’s injury. He cited that he could make his return just before the Suns face off against LeBron James and the LA Lakers:

“Durant is targeting a return Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s going to beat that three week evaluation that the Phoenix Suns had announced.

“We might see LeBron James against Durant on April 7th in LA, we’ll see.”

With just eight games to go in the regular season, the Phoenix Suns sit in fourth place in the Western Conference with a record of 39-35.

When was the last time Kevin Durant and LeBron James faced off?

This Kevin Durant injury update is not only good for the Phoenix Suns, but NBA fans as well. For the first time in a long time, the basketball world will get to see two of the game’s greatest face off.

Due to injuries and playing in different conferences, it’s been some time since LeBron and KD matched up against one another. The last time they were both on the floor as opponents came was all the way back during the 2018-19 season.

As long as everything stays on track with Durant’s rehab, we should get this clash of titans. With the LA Lakers fighting for a playoff spot, LeBron is sure to be in the lineup after just making his own return from injury.

Given how tight the Western Conference standings are, this matchup is sure to have a playoff atmosphere. The Lakers currently sit in the play-in tournament, but the Dallas Mavericks are only a game behind them in 11th place. Phoenix will also be looking to keep its spot as the LA Clippers are only half a game behind them in fifth place.

Between the playoff implications and superstar talent on the floor, this matchup is sure to deliver a great game.
