Noni Madueke gave Chelsea fans a glimpse of his exciting potential with a player of the match display in England U21’s win over France.
The 21-year-old moved from PSV to Stamford Bridge in January, but has so far been used sparingly by Graham Potter as he tries to navigate Chelsea’s bloated squad.
He’s made four appearances for the Blues so far this season, but had done enough to keep his place in Lee Carsley’s England U21 squad.
Starting the match against France on the bench, Madueke entered the fray on 66 minutes and put in a display so good, he was awarded with the Player of the Match award.
Madueke doubled England’s lead with a smart finish with 13 minutes left to play, before setting up goals for Curtis Jones and Jacob Ramsey as the young Lions ran riot in the second half.
Noni Madueke made a massive impact as a second half sub and was named player of the match
The Chelsea attacker scored once and laid on two assists in England U21’s 4-0 win over France
It was a display that had Chelsea fans full of excitement of what’s to come from the young star, and they took to Twitter to wax lyrical on the attacker.
‘Madueke the future is bright’ said one fan, while another shared the same sentiment by stating ‘Noni Madueke is actually so good, hope he has a big future with us.’
One Blues supporter even went as far as to say that Madueke is going unnoticed at Stamford Bridge by tweeting ‘Noni Maudeke is going under the radar at Chelsea football club. We’ve got an absolute super talent right there, can’t wait for him to be starting regularly. ‘
Another said ‘Some performance from Madueke’, but one fan feared for what might happen to the forward once he’s back at Chelsea and under Potter.
‘Madueke changing the game for England from bench but watch Potter bring on Gallagher in the 66th minute to defend a 1-0 lead’. The poster sarcastically tweeted.
The 4-0 win was an impressive display for Carsley’s young side, against a highly-rated French team.
They face Croatia on Tuesday, their last game before the U21 Euros kick-off in June, with England beginning their campaign against the Czech Republic.
