The Internet has been making jokes about Rihanna’s iconic belly-baring pregnancy looks, most notably suggesting that the baby must be a little cold. But if we’re being honest with ourselves, we all know that baby is more than likely already wearing vintage Chanel in the womb. Rihanna has had a penchant for crop tops to show off her baby bump, but most recently was seen covering up in a Simone Rocha babydoll dress that broke the Internet just as much as her sexier maternity looks.
Rihanna’s style knows no limits, and just when you think you’ve figured out her outfit formula, she switches it up. She styled the ultra-feminine Simone Rocha frilled-trim cotton-jersey and tulle midi dress with Loewe’s best-selling Ibiza sunglasses and a pair of Jordan x Union Air Guava ice sneakers.
Simone Rocha is known for many things, notably baby doll dresses like the one Rihanna wore, but baby bump wear, ironically, is not one of them — although it clearly should be. The brand is a fashion editor favorite but a typical Simone Rocha piece will cost you a couple hundred dollars. We’d argue it’s more than worth the splurge because it’s without a doubt one of the most exciting brands out there right now with designs that’ll easily make you feel like you stepped out of a fairytale book. Rihanna flawlessly demonstrates this, while also making the case for the brand as maternity wear.
Its accessories are also available at a far more accessible price point and will still give any outfit the ethereal dreamy quality Simone Rocha is known for. Nordstrom just stocked so many newer pieces, like a pair of $65 flower jacquard ankle socks perfect for pairing with spring loafers, or a $75 pearl flower hair clip to pin your hair back into two braids — a signature style for the brand’s models.
Rihanna’s look is giving off-duty ballet dancer who also happens to be pregnant, which couldn’t be more fitting with the major rise of Balletcore as an aesthetic. And we’re sure Rihanna’s baby already has a matching look waiting for them in a closet complete with a wardrobe that’ll break the Internet as much as their mother’s. We can’t wait to see.
