The Phoenix Suns may have been dubbed genuine title contenders after they landed Kevin Durant in a blockbuster trade, but an NBA analyst believes they do have two massive concerns.
“Following the addition of Durant, the largest looming concern for Phoenix for the rest of the season is health,” wrote CBS Sports’ Michael Kaskey-Blomain.

He also added that Phoenix would struggle in the absence of a key contributor. “As currently constructed, they’re just not built to survive a sustained absence from a key contributor, and therein lies Phoenix’s second biggest concern moving forward: Depth, or the lack thereof.”
Kaskey-Blomain had his reasons behind picking the two factors as reasons behind a possible Suns blowout in the postseason. While their 36-29 record in the regular season and the current run of form guarantees a playoff spot, they cannot afford an injury in the postseason.
Both veterans, Durant and Chris Paul, have battled injuries this season. While the former missed a sizeable chunk of games for his former franchise, the Brooklyn Nets, this season, Paul has had his own share of hip and heel issues that’s seen him on the sidelines for the Suns this season.
Add to this Booker’s own injuries, and the Suns will have their hands full if one of the top four struggles with health. Their bench, largely untested against stern opponents, will have their hands full if Phoenix is dealt with injury blows in the postseason.
Jalen Rose Believes Kevin Durant Will Boost The Phoenix Suns Chances Of Winning A Title
The Phoenix Suns elevated themselves to legitimate title contenders the minute they locked Kevin Durant in a blockbuster trade.
Adding more teeth to the theory was former NBA star Jalen Rose who believed Durant could lead Phoenix to a championship. “KD will deliver a championship in Phoenix,” he outlined.
The new-look Suns have already looked formidable. While teams take some time to adjust to new faces in the mix, Durant’s integration has been seamless, and the Suns have the wins to show for it.
They are gunning for a top seed in the regular season, and if they churn out a string of wins and stay a healthy unit, they are going to be hard to beat.
