After Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel and Sony have an even bigger task to make Spider-Man 4, but will Tom Holland return and would it be in the MCU?
There is good news for anyone looking for Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 updates. Phase 4’s biggest movie was easily Spider-Man: No Way Home, finishing its theatrical run as the third highest-grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe movie worldwide. This led to talk about the future and the possibility of another MCU Spider-Man movie. Some thought No Way Home marked the end for Holland’s Spider-Man, but the end offered some promise for future storylines. No Way Home was an incredible spectacle, bursting with entertainment and offering the joyous fan service that only top-level comic book movies usually manage.
It is a movie that is incredibly easy to be enthusiastic about. In the post-Avengers: Endgame world, the expectations placed on Marvel movies increased exponentially, and No Way Home‘s massive scope was a testament to the need to try and outdo the MCU’s Infinity Saga. That it has achieved such success is astonishing, but now attention turns to what Sony and Marvel can do next with this character. Here’s everything known about Spider-Man 4 and how No Way Home possibly sets up Tom Holland’s future as Spider-Man.

The Latest Spider-Man 4 News
The most recent Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 updates came from MCU head Kevin Feige. When talking about the next phase of movies, Feige mentioned the ones he is most excited about, including The Marvels and Captain America: New World Order. He then was asked about Spider-Man 4 and said that “we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.” He also mentioned the upcoming Daredevil show on Disney+ with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their Netflix roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. That is important as the two heroes might be connected.
Spider-Man 4 Is Confirmed
The Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 updates came courtesy of Sony’s Amy Pascal, who talked more Spider-Man content in an interview: “This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.” Also, before Feige confirmed it, Sony Pictures’ Tom Rothman confirmed that there is still at least one MCU crossover on the docket:
We lend one, then they lend one, and that’s how Benedict is in this movie, so we have one more lend back that is committed.
Spider-Man 4 (Predicted) Release Date
Assuming Spider-Man 4 follows the usual trend of releasing Spider-Man movies to capitalize on the brand power of the character, a release date of the end of 2024 would fit. This might be hard to pull off, even with Sony onboard. Marvel has a full slate of movies coming. Phase 5 is set through September 2024, with six movies and up to seven TV shows planned out for the next two years. That leaves no room for Spider-Man 4 in that phase. However, the last Disney+ series is expected to be Daredevil: Born Again, and The Cosmic Circus reports Spider-Man 4 will come off the heels of that MCU series.
Spider-Man 4 Cast
There are no Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 updates concerning the movie’s cast. Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Peter Parker completely alone as Doctor Strange’s spell wiped memories of Peter out of existence when it came to his friends MJ and Ned. When Spider-Man 4 arrives, Tom Holland will almost certainly be back for the new movie. Sony head honcho Tom Rothman did say (via Deadline) that Sony “hopes to get working on the next Spider-Man movie” with “that whole group” from the existing trilogy. This means Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon would all return.

Spider-Man 4 Story Details
Kevin Feige was not giving any Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 updates concerning the story. However, the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home left hints. If the trio of stars from the first three movies reunite, something has to undo Doctor Strange’s spell. There was also a post-credit stinger with Venom’s symbiote making its way into the MCU. While Tom Hardy went back to his world, that symbiote could find its way to Spider-Man and the MCU could have a chance to redo the story Sam Raimi attempted in Spider-Man 3. The symbiote and Venom could force Spider-Man to reconnect with his friends.
